Gday Brains Trust

I have had a low brake pedal on the LC since I got it. Front pads have plenty of meat, had the rear drums machined and new linings. Changed the braked fluid, bled the system still no good.

Mechanic reckoned it was probably a master cylinder problem so he changed that and re bled the system. He called me last night and reckons the pedal is good for 10 to 15 cycles then goes low.

He suggested three of the 4 brake hoses look old and original, one is newish. Suggests changing them (theory being they could be deteriorated and are expanding.

Thoughts?

(Its got an Standard booster, LX master cylinder, LX front discs and callipers, Standard drums with LX wheel cylinders).

Get some brake line clamps and see if you can isolate a problem end or corner.

Replace the hoses. If they are unknown age (there should only be 3 in total)

They often have the year of manufacture marked on the rubber section

If its got an LC booster and an LX master as you say... make sure the pushrod to master clearance has been checked

As those 2 items are not compatible without modification

What datto said. New hoses whether it solves your problem or not. Cheap insurance.
