Does anybody have a clear scan of this document? I just want to get some dates right off of it.

That'll be originally for LH XU2 rims Laurie, cool document. Before they cancelled its release with LH and created SLR5000, later releasing XU2 without its code.

Do you know if any ended up on HQ or HJ? Model release was Oct 73 which I thought may have been a bit early for L34 development.

Drawing date 23 Sept 1973.

Model Ref change L34 was XU2 appears to be dated 29 Jun 74 and Tyre Pressure 24psi added on 6 Jul 74?

No chance, the offset was wrong. That document is an Assembly Line drawing/procedure, not an Engineering Drawing for the wheels. Each Assembly Plant (in this case just Dandenong for LH and LX) would have had a full manual for how to assemble the cars and their components, this is one of those sheets from that manual. October 1973 is actually pretty late for anything LH release, remember pilots would normally be made many months in advance especially for a complete new set of tooling - LH was essentially a "from scratch" design. HK pilots were around September 1967 and HK was a modification of HR. HX pilots were around March 1976. HZ pilots around June 1977.

GMH made the L34 rims in house I believe, and thus cost would be higher than outsourcing to ROH like all the other wheels, so they would only have built what they needed. At the time I'm pretty sure HQ were still using imported Pontiac RallyeII from Canada and ROH were probably not yet fully tooled for the HJ sports wheels. I think GMH would still have been able to buy new HK 6' hoops from ROH, not sure if the welded in centres were of ROH manufacture or came from Canada. The hoops should be a JJ hoop with two safety beads, GMH were still using the old JK single safety bead sports rims late in HQ.

GMH preferred comfort and understeer at the time.
