Who makes the Big Nut M/C lid seals these days to suit LH Torana? eBay special?

Looks like they make a reproduction part for just about everything on a Torana nowadays.

I did a brake fluid flush on the weekend and strangely enough, I had fluid trapped between the lid seal and the underside of the lid. How did it get there? And how did it not leak out....?

I’m surprised it was trapped there. But it was. I took the lid off and pushed the lid seal and fluid shot out from the end of the seal around the locating tab.

No leaks around the edges of the M/C otherwise.

When you bleed the brakes by pumping the pedal fluid squirts up out of the master. Maybe there's a split in the rubber??

Lesson I learnt is never leave the cover off while bleeding.

I’ll give this eBay special seal a go. A Holden one would be nice but I think Laurie has grabbed them.

I gravity bled the brakes and also gave the pedal a very very very slow press/retract with the lid off.

Yes, I can see if you go too quick it will squirt right up and cause a major headache.

I have these 2 on my desk

We buy them from MCX in QLD

They may have sourced the original mold

Hence the HOL you can see... but not the rest of the word

Cheers. I’ve shot them an email to enquire if they have stock.

Laurie, makes sense for me to grab one from this side of the country if they stock them.

Neil,

Can you comment as to why I may have found brake fluid between the seal and the lid but not outside of the M/C at all?

It was trapped in there quite well.

The tin lid does not have any breather holes.

Funnily enough I see what looks like a hole at the rear of the lid....? If it was a hole, there would have been fluid leaking from that....? I need to have a proper look when I get home.

Unless it is blocked. In which case on a hot day air expands possibly forcing fluid behind rubber, I don’t know….

Confirmed they are holes in both ends of the lid. Poked some solder into the holes. They are not blocked. Weird that fluid did not flow out of the those holes?
