It’s what GroupC essentially was in 1969-72. Sure throw in a HT GTS 350 and an XY Super Falcon, but the major front runners were a Mustang and Camaro. Mustang won 1969, Camaro won 1971-2 with the HT winning in 1970.

Supercars will have some big decisions to make over the next few years, if they're going to keep this category alive in Australia.

I don't know what the answer is, TCM, GT3 or something else.

There's very little emotional attachment anymore.

There's very little emotional attachment anymore.

I was of the same opinion until I attended a few supercar events recently.

At the better events, Adelaide, Bathurst etc. the crowds are bigger than ever & better behaved than in the past.

Nowadays the "emotional attachment" is less about the car brand & more about the driver. The queues for signatures are as long as.

Interesting.
Perhaps I'm a product of being drip feed limited coverage on free to air tv.

I must admit I can really appreciate the engineering that goes into these cars & the fact they're chasing thousandths of a second. I also admire the skill it takes to wheel these machines around the track but I just can't warm to the majority of the drivers.

I don't feel they have charisma of of the likes of Johnson, Brock, Lowndesy or Skaife.
Add that to the loss of the Ford vs Holden tradition & to me it seems like lost its feel.

But it certainly sounds like there is a new generation of fans coming through though.

Also interesting a couple of drivers are trying their hand at NASCAR, be it full-time or one off drives.
