Has anyone got one of these? If they do does it show section 10.001? This section is gone from the later reprints as it normally is, only exists when the series is current.

Looking to see what text is against part number 7429830.

The MPC I have in front of me has 7429830 listed in the index - referencing back to 10.002 (BODY SHELL - In prime) -> LESS DECK LID -> HR/215 RIGHT HAND DRIVE

Section 10.001 doesn't exist at all. Sorry that's all of no use!

Thanks mate. That is what I was looking for. An unused shell in electrostatic red lead primer has turned up in NZ. It has 7429830-8 as the body number. So it looks like there were at least 8 x spare part HR 215 shells made. Its chassis number places it really close to the end of HR.

Does it list a separate part number for 225 or 235? Or LHD part numbers?

Here we go9ca3e215df209a17d38d941d039487a6.jpg
It seems they only had RHD standard sedan and wagon, premier sedan and panel van. Also interesting HD and HR van bodies are identical.

And there is no utility spare part shell. If that is a complete list then it looks like the intention was that you'd modify the 215 shell to make it a 225 but the Premier must be fundamentally different as a dead standard thing. Bucket seat holes maybe? But HR Premier wagon also had bucket seats....Hmm.

Guessing freight overseas was cost prohibitive for just a bare body shell, so no LHD produced?

My LJ Torana Parts Book lists 10.001 as 'BODY- Complete. Current production body assemblies complete with trim will be supplied on a firm order basis.'

Yes that is where hard trimmed bodies are. I0.002 is where the bare shells are.

A lot of export stuff is not in the catalogues. A lot of them were CKD for LHD too so you'd imagine the overseas plant would make local bodies. They did export shells to NZ.

Why the need for a different windscreen in LHD?

And did every HR get the whitewall tyres from new?

Shiney

The difference between LHD and RHD windscreens will be the way the toughening was done.

They had the screen shatter into bigger pieces in front of the driver to give them a bit more visibility.

Cheers

Rob

Different toughened zone to RHD.

White stripe was standard on Premiers, but it will simply be a single spec export vehicle. So all of them to whatever that destination was got those tyres as standard.

I'm still looking for any photos of LHD HK Holdens in Hawaii.
