Hi All,

I run 80-90 oil in my 9 inch (locker/3.5 US Gear) as per the attached pic.

I know aftermarket gears are noisy, but wondering if any of you have recommendations for oil that would quieten things down a bit.

Cheers

Dave

You could try a thicker oil. I run the Penrite 140 in my 9”, but my old gear-set still sings a bit when I have the quiet exhaust on.

I also run a straight 140 oil.

No noise that I can hear.

When you say "locker", what centre does it have exactly?

Clutch-type LSD centres require a specific type of diff oil because of the friction plates. Whereas more 'mechanical' lockers just need a heavy gear oil. And a spool, of course, doesn't care less!

Thanks guys, I will try something heavier.
It is an old school detroit locker.
