Nice bit of paperwork. I've got 5 folders full of these from '74 to '79, but I have never found the time to go through them.
I wonder what Mr Tolhurst was planning for those shells.

Hi the body shells were for panel shops, as insurance companies were repairing cars cheaper that way

If that was the case there would have been requests for sedans, wagon, Statesman etc shells plus HK-HG coupe shells. The fact it was for one of each of LC and LJ to me says something different.

There were. There were still the final coupe shells (HJ) left in 1979. But the fact one place was chasing one of each LC and LJ in both lux levels is not likely to happen. Did all LC and LJ Torana owners go to Wollongong to get their cars fixed? Remember this is 1976, the cars were worth bugger all.

This was likely to be Dwyers.
Even into the 90s they had a rep that pushed hard for spares sales to businesses.
Mate had a panel shop and was doing a window winder mech repair on a HJ Monaro.
Dwyers bloke turned up in the shop and I said ask him.
Mate said no point, nobody stocks them.
I asked the Dwyers bloke and he said they had quite a few of them.
Repair stopped, new parts ordered.
They had all sorts of old stock, and lots of it at one point.
Their rep went far and wide in those days, well into what you might consider other dealers areas.
Cheers
Rob

This I agree with! That or someone was still racing them and wanted some bodies. Could even have been for Speedway but more likely rally or track.

When I lived in Wollongong in the early 70s there was a Tolhurst (forget his first name) who was a front runner at the local hillclimb.
