Hi.
I am close to registering my LX Torana.
I went with 14" x 7 rims with the HT/LX stud pattern.
I have 205/60 on the front and 225/60 on the rear - about 600mm outside diameter.
I need a spare to fit in the shallow wheel well which is about 215 mm deep with floor mat.
I was thinking of an aftermarket trailer wheel 14 x 6 with about a 185/70 tyre which from measuring mine, should give me a diameter close to the rear and fit under the floor.
It's the standard 3300 differential behind a stock 253/4.2.
Is there anyone out there who can confirm 185/70 or perhaps 195/70 will be the same diameter?
Thank you. Peter

Just do the calcs.

Tyre diameter is:

Width x aspect/100 x 2 + rim diameter.

For a 185/70/14 that is 185 x 0.7 x 2 + (14 x 25.4).

205/60 and 225/60 will be different diameters (plug them into the above formula)

225x0.6=135
195x0.7=136.5
185×0.75=139
Either way sidewall height is close enough.

Thanks for the replies.
I had used tyresize.com to replace the rears with a diameter something closer to the front and found that their calculations were about 20mm oversize compared to the 225/60 fitted on the rear so reluctant to use them again and thought that someone out there may be using a 185/70 or 195/70 x 14 and could give me a diameter ?
Otherwise l go back to tyresize.com and deduct 20mm from their calculation to get close. It looks like 195/70 will be close to 225/60 in diameter but would prefer confirmation of diameter from a forum member please.

Thanks Clay. That confirms what l thought from tyresize.com. l had only looked at diameter not sidewall height so 195 is very close. Thank you. Peter.
BTW. I was hoping to post a picture of the car, l can access the camera but having trouble accessing my phone albums.

On a side-note, make sure the "trailer wheel" rim actually fits both front and back, sitting flat on the hub, correctly fitting the hub centre, and clearing everything (such as brake calipers). Also that the wheel nut taper matches the other rims, and indeed your wheel nuts of choice.

Centre disc pressings vary, as well as how they attach to the hoop (some even use rivets) and you may have issues with some brake setups.

Also test the offset. I doubt you'd have a problem with it being too far outward, but too far inward can be an even bigger problem so check clearance to things like control arms, sway bars, brake lines, brake ducts, etc. on lock to lock.

Thanks Bigfella.
Very good od advice that l hadn't considered.l ordered a 13" with claimed same OD tyre - 605mm and hope that it fits otherwise l may have to use the original 13" spare rim.
