That HB is a laugh! It'd have trouble turning the tyres. Brings back an old memory, my Dad told me way back when I got my first HQ about 1981-2. When he was a teenager all the local boys used to run 4cyl pommy cars like the HA/HB. Dad had a Hillman and his mate had a Cortina, they used to put on twin carbs and extractors plus a cam. He'd told me that his mate's Cortina was so fast it used to blow away the new big red 179 manual EH's. Even then I remember laughing saying that standard EH's were not fast, that your average modern (early 80's) EFI 4cyl Japanese car would probably dust one too.

 

What would make that HB really cool would be something like a 3.5L alloy Rover V8. Or even a 3.8L VS engine.

 

Some nice cars there. The HT ute next to the yellow HZ wagon looks nice.

The HR wagon brings back memories of being carted to town in the back of mum and dads on the gravel roads choking on dust.

I always thought that the back of one of those was long enough to make a dual cab ute. (Excuse my photoshop attempt)

There is potential for someone to build a mini Torana hatch I reckon. This came up for sale not far from me the other day.

HT or HK?

It has HK lights but I thought it looked like Daytona Bronze and has a HT-HG tailgate hence assumed HT. Could be a HG too.

 

You could easily make a "dual cab" out of an actual HD-HR van by pulling out the infill panel on the floor and mounting a wagon rear seat and seatbelts, using HK-HG Monaro buckets. Little tougher to access the back seats though with the short doors. They share the same floor pan so easy as pie, not sure what sort of Engineering would be required, might need some form of opening side windows, maybe use a pair of sliding canopy type windows or pop open setup like a hatchback has. Ute would be a bit harder as you'd have to either chop off the van roof and graft on a partial wagon roof and ute back panel, or start with a ute and do similar. It'd have the HD rear lights though whereas your wagon has the HR arse.

Typical bloody farmer Laurie, shooting landau etc. I'd rather a wagon or van any day (typical bloody surfer).
