How about Tek screws?
When I used to have 80's club plates on my '57 Chevy we just used a strip of alloy plate from memory. Countersunk screws to attach it to the car and threads cut into the alloy to attach the plates.

Sorry this took so long Kev. These were buried right down the back of the shed. Unfortunately they aren't A1 condition. With some careful panel beating and a whole heap off polishing they may come up respectful.
You are welcome to have them if you want them.
