I had found this info earlier in the day on the early Holden shop site.
It states:
“Important note:
Tighten bolts to Holden specifications”

That’s 35ft/lbs, and the arp link says 55 for kit 134-6003 and 134-6023
For chev 305 - 350

Checking the ad again I notice the Holden starfire kit number is
205-6001-ho6.
Those may be the wrong kit.
Also, the machinists had considerately etched the words
“Torque to 70 ft/lbs on arp main studs” with a Dremel on
the block oil pan surface, so that cleared that one up.

I do appreciate your help Warren, I just want to put this out there to
save anyone a potential heartache if I happen to be right here.
Tell me if I’ve got it wrong though, or the heartache will be mine
Cheers

I torque mine as per the ARP leaflet, they've been in my engine for 24 years, my second engine for 20 years & all other Holden 6's that I've built.

Do you do them up to 55 or do you measure the bolt stretch?

I torque them, I can't measure the stretch. If the rods were fitted with ARP bolts, torqued, then honed, that is the torque too be used.

Bolt stretch seems to be a thing for some OEM bolts that are single use only.

Aftermarket stuff I have come across have been reusable and are torque value.

Cheers

Rob
