They are all guilty of it. I had to help a guy with info to get his $ back from Lloyds prior to 2020 when they sold him a HK Monaro as an original V8 GTS.

Back in 2019 or 2020 I looked at a Red LJ GTR at Gray's here in Pinkenba. Was a Brisbane shell wearing Adelaide ID and louvers/gills/slits grafted in to both guards and the Adelaide chassis number welded in and poorly finished.

Told them it was a reshell and a fake but they continued to auction it as a GTR anyway. All these auction houses don't care, they hide behind their disclaimers and push the narrative to achieve the best outcome possible to maximise the buyers premium.

Grays are still selling suss cars, this Mar 72 "GTR" has a bodged up body tag that has a body number from a  9/73 2Dr S, what looks like a restamped chassis number, non matching JL engine and it's being advertised as a matching number car!

I agree that auction house cannot ever be experts in all goods sold, it is just impossible, unless they stick to a very narrow product line. IMHO.
However, in some car cases, it really is just something that "looks" like what is described.
Imagine buying a pile of money at a currency sale, looks like a pile of $50 notes, but when you get it home, it's only 50's on the top and bottom, and $5 notes in the middle.
Let's call it a "$20k tribute", lovingly put together by the previous owner.
You'd be happy...of course.

And it's a '73 body shell.

ACCC should take a look at Lloyd’s.

Fascinating wording in their statement.
"Since becoming aware..."
Does that mean the same as "Since being sprung...."?
