Hi all,

Where the hell do I source inner seals on the rack and pinions? This particular rack is from UC. Or are they just a common scraper seal?

Thanks,
Liam

As far as i can recall the only seal is on the pinion shaft and a boot seal on each end of rack.

That is correct. There are no internal seals in Torana manual rack & pinion steering gears.

Hi all, I genuinely thought the rack would have internal seals as it used to contain oil… no wonder they leaked .

The nolathane replacement bushes - they locate into the passenger side of rack I presume?

We rebuilt racks for many years & we found the best lubricant to use was high temp lithium grease. If the boot was damaged, any thin oil would quickly drain out & the rack would run dry & wear the gear teeth. Grease lasted for years.
