Easiest way I can think of to place your cd/mp3 player in the LH/LX glovebox would be to cut up a flat plate of aluminium or similar and cut the area out of that for the cd player. Might want to use foam between where you mount the metal plate and the inside of the glovebox area (to avoid vibrations)... You could cover the aluminium in vinyl or paint it.

any silver will do, i am a bit over woodgrain? It's debatable which is the 'exact' holden colour used on the SS dashes but one of the colours is called 'Portland grey metallic'... It's very hard to match the original colour because the original dashes aren't actually painted on - different process...

Where is your cd player flamenco? i had the same idea as you about having it in the glove box and haveing the lid still close but the back of the cd player hits the firewall, well somehting solid, i wil lget some pics!
Hows ya car going anyways?

As Flemenco said, the dashes were not painted, they were screen printed.
The colour is a PMS ink colour. I'm gonna try for the mixed paint in a can
trick. If it looks close, I'll post the exact mix used. I'll start with Portland
and see how it looks, maybe even add a little more matting agent.
In the same boat as you for the stereo too! I want to remotely mount
my CD stacker in the boot, and do something tricky with the radio panel
in my console. I want to ditch the actual radio part, but keep the front
and surround panel, using it as a 'flip up' cover for the real stereo. That
way she still looks original, but has a few mod cons. I want to hide the
speakers too.
Oh, dont hold your breath!! I am skint as at present, and these are wishes
at best ATM, but when I do something I will post pics.

I sanded it back with wet and dry and had no probs on the instrument surround, but the glove box lid was doing weird things....

Did you buy one of those 'silver paint pens/textas'
to do the silver/chromey trim around the outside?
Works a treat!
Nice job. Septone eh?
