CAMS already retired Peter's number when he retired.

The first time!.

They retired Richard Petty's number when he went too.

I figured that heath :P Just thought it was worth a giggle..

Maybe 05.5? or 05+1/2?

No seriously.. The number was snonymous with peter brock, and it'll forever be HIS number. I dont think any other race driver would or should have it.

Cheers.

Brock and 05, for me the same signature.

He could have used both, anybody with leaded fuel in their veins would have known.

I personally didn't know they had retired his number.

Seemed like it wasn't though, as it was everywhere he was.

Again 05 was like a signature that spelt Brock in 2 syllables.

It's amazing how something as simple as that can become a symbol that means more than it is.

I think they call it an oxymoron, Big words tonight! Too many red wines!

The reason i asked is that the 05 /.05 is a road safety thing and they (the authorities) might want to keep using it.

But my point is that it became the man for all the right reasons and should pass with the man.

Am i babbling yet?

Yes you are babbling. :spoton: But I am listening. My previous statement withdrawn. 05 = Peter brock, no one else.

Wasn't the 05 thing a thing Brocky did to push the .05 limit for alcohol?

Yes you are right 73LJWhite, :spoton:

In 1976 Brock began using the 05 after winning Bathurst in 5 the year before, It was an initiative between Brock and the Road Safety people I still have a .05 Brock sticker from the campaign..

Please don't get me wrong here, he was my Hero, but I seem to recall he had a .05 issue at one stage himself. May not have been while driving but to do with one of his early marriages?
About the time he went tea total.
Something from the archives of my brayn. Prove me wrong if you like.

New Idea is flogging "Ex Wife Tells All" and it's not Bev. Might be a good read? I wonder if I can talk the Missus into going into the newsagent to buy it for me?

He was married two times before Bev for 28 yrs, very short and no kids.

Nobody will remember the others, all of Brocky's memories are with Bev.
Just magazines looking for a selling point, drag up his long forgotten past.
