350 on are red six are as shit as they come..390 will shit all over it.
Come on, 390's are an economy carb designed as replacements for 302 clevos and 253's, there will always be fuel distribution problems with an inline six when using a 4 barrel carb.
350's get a bad name because people just find an old secondhand one thats been abused for years and expect them to work miracles. If they're built properly with the correct power valve/jets etc they will shit all over any economy carb.
I'm confident any carb specialist will go with a built 350 over a 390 anyday of the week, especially with a quality manifold like the Ultraflow.

A 202 @ 6000 rpm can only ingest 320 cfm...and doing it thru 2 large holes doesn't help atomisation and vapourisation....although a 390 is larger the fact you only half of it most of the time aids economy and acceleration at part throttle openings...it does't bog down because air speed is higher thru smaller venturi's

Overpriced? Seeing as MOST sets of triple SU's go for about 200-250 on ebay i dont think thats overpriced.390's are an economy carb, triples although cool looking are overpriced considering bang for buck.
Theres a 390 4bbl on ebay at the moment, $299 with 1 bid. Still think triples are overpriced?

Triples sure might sell for 250-300 to buy initially.....how many are in decent enough condition to just bolt on for that money??....i doubt you'd sell one of your mint condition sets for that kinda money.
Come one Lcboi......triple webers are race car domain, if toranaz was building a race car then sure a well tuned set of split choke webers would be the ideal, its not meant to be a pissing contest just a debate on ideas, bring some thought to the table hey.
Put two of Australias top engine builders together and they'll both have a different opinion on Fuel atomisation (some say it doesnt even occur).....the theory of smaller venturis is sound but on a straight six distribution relies on manifold design rather than carburettor. So there is more chance of improving performance with a better designed manifold.
WHICH IS WHY A SET OF TRIPLE CARBS IS THE IDEAL, just not affordable for SOME.
If money and convenience was no object we'd all be driving blown Big blocks in our toranas. Just trying to give toranaz an opinion.

How many 350 owners have an idle of 500 rpm?
How many 350 owners get 10 km per litre?

How many 350 owners have an idle of 500 rpm?
thats only because we need a higher idle because of the big beefy cams we run
How many 350 owners get 10 km per litre?
I dont think my standard VS v6 commodore ute gets those kind of figures
In the past ive run WW strombergs, Triple 1.75" SUs and 350 Holleys and i'd take a 350 anyday personally.
Two guys i know who have swapped out their 350 2 barrel set-ups to 4 barrel 390/465 set-ups have both been extremely dissappointed in the performance and switched back to a 2 barrel 350's within a couple of weeks. And these guys certainly arent gooses when it comes to cars (both in the automotive trade).
At the end of the day it all comes down to personal choice......sorry if i've offended anyone

Maybe my mechanic isnt what he's cracked up to be huh?.......i wonder if the Top Alchohol Team that he builds the motors and crews on knows that he's got no idea....hehehe
I guess at the end of the day if fuel economy was a real concern i'd buy one of those lovely hyundai's with their exceptional build quality or maybe even a Daewoo?.......GM obviously loves it enough to put their name to them
