The trim number is for both exterior AND interior trim colours.
If the Body ID plate says PRIME, then this a replacement body shell. It was supplied thru the GM-H spare parts dept as a new bare shell in primer (usually white) but with no mechanicals or trim of any sort.

Yes, that is correct, a new body 'replacement' body shell with the 82911 model number has to be a GTR with the front guard vents etc. A non-GTR (no vents) will have an S or SL model number on the plate
Posting of body numbers really has no legal ramifications at all. People on the forum often ask about registering cars with no tags, but in reality the RTA (& Police) only really record the chassis number & the engine number, for vehicle ID. While some might get a bit cranky with there being no ADR Compliance plate, they don't give a rat's *#@& about the GM-H body & model numbers etc.

the inner guard number matches the ADR tag
Being a replacement shell I would not think it would have a ADR tag

Yeah your right, I don't have any tags except for the incompleted GMH body tag. I registered my car still, no probs. Body number and Engine number =p. So theres sort of no way to verify whether I have a reshelled GTR on my hands...just out of curiosity, as I don't expect phenomenol resale (not that I'm selling it). It would be interesting to know.

28L9678 I believe is the part or PO number as ive seen this number on other replacement shell body tag
and the
47-A = 47th Adelade built replacement 82911 shell
maybe try to do a rego history check on the chassis number and you may find earlier info or previous owners that may shed of the cars history
have a look at lower control ams and gearbox and baffeled diff housing etc to see if its been built with XU1 bits to see if its a reshelled XU1
cheers

Wow, that shed some light on my tag. Looks like Ill have to chase up the previous owners or might not even bother.

Could that be true where there is no difference in the bare body shells between the models. e.g. In the LH series the S, SL & SL/R bare bodies are the same, whereas in the LJ series the S & SL are basically the same, but the GTR has a different body because of the flutes. The don't list replacement body assemblies in the parts manuals, but if they did, this would probably show up.
So possibly there would be 3 different body part numbers for LC (4 cyl std, S & SL, & 6 cyl S & SL & 1 for GTR) where S & SL would most likely use an SL body ID, while the GTR would have a GTR body ID. There then would be 3 again for LJs ID'd the same way. With the LH, there would probably be only 1 body for the entire range from a 1900 S to an SL/R 5000, all ID'd as a 8VD69. In the LX there would be only 2 shells for the entire range (1 sedan & 1 hatch) ID'd 8VD69 & 8VD77 respectively. Again in the UC, there would be 2 (sedan & hatch) but these would be ID'd as SLs (8UH69 & 8UH77).
Anybody out there with any concrete info on this ?
Dr Terry.
