Hey all. On the 1st of October, the Victorian Torana Club will be hosting our annual cruise to Maroondah Dam, only this year, we are basing this run as a tribute to the King of the Mountain, and are asking a donation of $5 to go strait to Brocky's Charity. Profits of the BBQ Lunch etc will also be donated to the Charity.

Seeing as this is our largest event of the year, we thought that it would be appropriate to play our part in respect to Peter Brock, and hopefully this can be a great gathering to celebrate his life, his inspiration to us, and in turn what we live for - Toranas.

There will be a cheaply priced Barbecue lunch at the end of the run as always, and plenty of time to sit down and socialise after having a smooth cruise through the countryside on our way there.

If you've never been on this run, check out the Victorian Torana Club website's Past Events section for photos and a breif report on last year's event.

It is always quite a large run with between 30 and 40 Toranas there, this will be advertised in the major Newspapers and is open to the public. So invite your mates to come down and have a great day with the rest of us. Hopefully this year we can break last year's record and get even more than 33 cars.

Meet: Knox Club (Cnr. Stud & Boronia Rd), Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne.
Time: 9am
Cost: $5 per car

Hope to see you there
- Heath

Although not a member, I have been on this run twice...it's well organised and is a fantastic sight, seeing 30+ Torries in line cruising through the towns....

I can't get there this year Heath, but I know everyone will enjoy the cruise.

If others haven't been on this one, GO!
It's definately well worth it.

Enjoy.

I may be inviting some new Torana owners along this year so I may travel with them and show them around etc, but if you're coming through Box Hill I might grab a lift and cruise down together, I'll talk to you about it on MSN later mate.

But yeah, I'm not desperate for a lift or anything at this stage so don't be afraid to fill up the hatch with people :D

Bump, just reminding everyone that this is this Sunday, a few people have been asking me about it etc, so who's in and who's not in?

I'm still assuming that this will be a decent turnout, but there hasn't been as much interest as I expected.

BTW It's just a gold coin donation now, not $5 a car (like the initial plan)

Invite your mates and enjoy the day

But just because you're not a member of the club does not mean you can bguck around, we have a very strong attitude against the wanker factor, I don't need to tell anyone what is illegal and what gives the club a bad name. Numberplates get reported if anyone screws around.

Something's telling me it won't be all that huge, but we'll wait and see who does and doesn't come along. *fingers crossed*

Good to hear you'll be there anyway, Matt why wouldn't the hatch be coming? Got some mechanical problems holding you back or something? BTW did my message get through on your home phone? I wasn't sure if it was the correct phone number or not...

Okay there have been a few cancellations due to mechanical problems etc which is no good at all.

Anyway the camera batteries are on the charger and I'm gonna hit the sack pretty soon, see you in the morning guys.

Well, the event was a huge success. LXCHEV had some transmission overheating problems (I believe) on the way up and wasn't able to continue, and as always, not all vehicles came along for the full trip (a lot just come to say hi in the morning and cruise for a short distance only), but at the ending destination we had I think 34 Toranas (although from start to finish we probably had 39 or 40), a neat WB Prem, two Camaros and a VK Brock.

At the ending destination we filled the carpark with Torries, got started with an excellent BBQ, had a successful raffle and auctioned off two posters signed by Peter Brock for charity. Thanks to all for attending, and man I'm a little stuffed so I'll post photos later probably...

My pics weren't great, I didn't get as many as planned, but I got some good group shots and that's what will go on the website.

Please send me some pics of that "SLRPWR" if you have any, I only got two pics and I want more :D

Good stuff Heath, was good to catchup and see all the Torana's today, although only short lived for us! The Chev has been running really rough the last few days, progressively getting worse, and today half way into the cruise it got even worse again. Wasn't a trans problem itself, however due to engine not running on all cylinders (I believe the plugs were fouling up real bad)... it was making everything work twice as hard to drive, and I think this was heating the trans up like crazy (watching the gauge was scaring us big time)... it even started stalling and was becoming real unhappy, so we didn't want to risk the long trip... BUGGER!!!!

Very hacked, and Deb was really spewing, she was having a ball driving, and we have 100% made her obsessed with Torana's, today really concreted that for her, hahahaaha!!!

So we would really appreciate photos too, looking forward to seeing them.

What a perfect day for a cruise too, you did well booking that in! Top stuff guys.

Cheers.

Well to be honest my pics aren't actually very good at all, that's why I haven't hurried to post them up, but I will do them quite soon. I was spending more time filling my face with food and catching up with Rick and Andrew than actually taking photos, but yes I will upload them.

LOL, there are some pic's, but not many as it was a good day, people were more busy socialising and having a laugh than taking pics.

Damn damn damn damn, I missed it! I thought it was next weekend for some reason. I even had the torrie out for a cruise on Sunday, and that explains why I saw a few torana's out and about. GMH-LJ followed me along maroondah highway cos I was even in bloody healsville!

Damn and Damn again.

So what was it like, out of interest? :D

Absolutely awesome. Best atmosphere'd cruise I've been on (or maybe i'm just getting to know the majority of people now so it seems more friendly).

Only bad part of the day was that wanker in the ED smoking them up, what a fukking tool, I wish I got a video of him. Ahhh who cares; the practicality of having a police officer in your car club is tremendous. :D

Yeah I noticed that when I got home. Oh well nothing wrong with getting up a bit early and soaking up the fresh sunday morning air, hahaha sorry Ed.

Nice to hear you enjoyed the cruise anyway though, and I'll hope to see you at some more events in the future. Really sorry about the time, but I'm surprised that no one else rocked up early
