Just finished my Celica 5spd conversion in my LC 308. It took around 4 months in which the car sat there for the whole time.
Filled up the fuel tank with fresh gas and took it for my 1st drive in manual.
I found that when it gets to about 4000-4500 it starts spluttering like a fuel problem or something. Used to rev a bit better before. Apart from that it drives fine.
Any ideas?

you may have to clean out the carb fuel bowl.

just look for the simple things first, start by checking everything u would do to tune it up

yep, set point gap, plugs, timing, mixture, visual inspection of things like wires on the coil, plug leads on tight, fuel filter not blocked (restricting flow of fuel at higher rpm) float level in carby etc

can you get it past 4000 at all? or does it rev no higher? if you have points thats where I would start

Yea it revs past 4000 but isnt so smooth. Carb is a holley 600.

Could be residue in the bowls from sitting. As the fuel dries up it makes flakes. These flakes block jets and needles and seats. Big problem on gas cars that aren't driven on petrol enough. (Says he that doesn't drive his car on petrol enough) Mine usually comes good after about 10k's as the fresh fuel entering the carby disolves the flakes.
Another thought is maybe your mechanical advance has stuck from sitting. See if you can twist the rotor button against the springs and that it freely returns.
