I took my car into pedders again and they have suggested my front mounts may be worn however I have replaced the rubbers.
Should the metal tubing on these front mounts be a tight fit on the bolts? or are they ment to just sit over the bolt without being a tight fit? They dont look to be a tight fit to me, however they guys a pedders have suggested movement in these mounts may be causing the noise I am trying to locate.
Cheers
Matt

ALX76 seems to know the noise I have.
Yep I do have 14 inch wheels and a standard SS front spoiler, however the noise is definately sounds like a spring noise. Im at my wits end to find out what this problem is.
Some guys have stated in other topics, Pedders springs may not seat correctly due to a larger spring wire being used - Is this a correct statement?? as I have pedders lowered suspension in my car.
THe noise only occurs when the wheels are returning from full lock to strait ahead so movement in the spring is all I can put it down to.

I dont think it would be the ball joints as these were also replaced when the pedders suspension and new lower control arms were put in. I have not replaced the steering rack so I will get it checked out.
Many thanks

I would also check that the steering arm to stub axle bolts are tight and for that matter also the ball joint nuts on upper and lower control arms.
another thing could be the brakes or brake line hitting the upper control arm, that is if you have different brakes e.g HQ-HZ
also if you look under the lower control arms there is a hole about 6mm where the end of the spring coil goes. if the spring is not in the correct position it will make a banging sort of noise quite often.
get a torch and look into the hole if you see the end of the coil all is good. if you cant turn the spring around a bit

Sounds familiar, my LX has a similar clunk niose,
took a while to track,
in this case,
on the drivers side, where the front end mounts to the body / chassis under the drivers side floor near the gearbox. (dont know the correct term for this part)
is related to worn mounts in the engine bay, (front end to chassis rails)
The clunk noise in my case is this mounting rubber has play in it, and makes a noise when the car is turned to lock (right) and when you turn the wheels straight again.
Possible fix, replace the mounting rubbers, and bolts.
Cheers
Chris
