hi i need help i bought this torana that was sitting at a mechanics that he new nothing about as it was a freind of his that had lost interest and just wanted it out of the corner it is black with orange ss stripes and flare kit it needs full resto but being a torana fan i thought well it is worth the $1200 he wanted for it even though the keys were locked in it and all i could see through the tinted windows was the arse end of what looked like a g,box and just plastic and seats and tennis balls and junk every where and a couple sets of mags ,i popped the bonnet and it had no id tags which i balked at but i thought what the heck i bought it . i got it home it was like a christmas present it was fun cause i didnt know what i was going to find WELL i got the car opened i looked at the dash and it was silver thought maybe ss in the boot i found console seats that are buggered many new busheses and rubbers the g,box is a SUPER T-10 RAPPED IN THAT , SS ashtry, yellow needle ss ashtray , extractors and many other thing s to me this was a ss with the tags nicked open the glove box AND THERE THEY ARE ID TAGS ALL 3 MASKED TOGETHER YES ITS SS BUT THATS AS FAR AS I KNOW I WILL NEED HELP DECIFERING THE CODES AND WOULD LOVE THE HELP OF THE READERS IF YOU CAN HELP CHASSIS-BLX015893M----BUILD 8-76---MODEL LX8VD77--BODYNO--535094M--TRIM-2214-60A--PAINT-56815991 --ENGINE L31 TRANS-M21 -AXLE -GU7

Would welcome the oportunity to see some pics? BTW what engine prefix does it have? The car must have been sitting for a while to have the bolt ons and still have the orange stripes. I would have thought the stripes would have been a delete item on a black car but each to there own. I would not have guessed the orange stripes either. Perhaps the interior is Sienna. Looks like you bought the gear box and got the car thrown in!

GU7 = 2.78:1 Axle Ratio
L31 = 308 High Compression
M21 = 4-speed manual with 2.54:1 1st gear
15991 = 1K001 = Tuxedo Black
