I have been asked by a fella who has a 73 LJ 3sp/man one owner 115Ks that shudders in reverse gear.
He has replaced a lot of things including motor and gearbox mounts, re-surfaced the fly-wheel and a couple of other things.
He did say that not long after the car came out, there was a remedy for this situation to be circulated around the Holden dealers.
Has any one heard of this trouble and most importantly know how to fix it?
Thanks and kind regards............Barry.

to fix rebuild the rat trap.
the holden dealer remidy was a strenthaning kit that changed the angles
of the rat trap but you would be lucky to find one
the only one ive seen on ebay went for nearly 300 but i was lucky to find a nos one at a swap meet for 20 as the bloke didnt know what it was

The fella with the problem was once a GMH mechanic but has since working a long time ago and had forgotten how to fix it.
I will give him a ring and let him know.
Much thanks..................Barry.

As far as I know he has replaced the engine and gearbox mounts, new pressure plate, new clutch, uni's, re-surfaced the fly-wheel and something about a spigot (bearing) ?
Regards...................Barry.

If all that stuff has been replaced it should work in theory without shudder. I will put my thinking cap on, but all I can come up with after that is oil on the clutch plate, but if the problem existed before the parts replaced then it must be something else. I will dig out my old mechanic books and have alook there?

Usually its related to the driver slipping the clutch..they don't realise how much they do it.
