I woudlnt take it personally Glenn.
As you can see Alot of the members here have tried to answer your question, even though a few have tried to head off on a tangent.

All i'm going to say is it's one of the cleanest, neatest examples of a 5000 i've been lucky enough to see, and wether it's super rare or not i wouldnt know and to be honest dont really care!!

Hope you find out the info your after mate.
Cheers
Tiny.

Interesting conversation going on here guys.

I reckon we can proudly call our Torana's "Aussie Muscle Cars".  Doesn't matter whether is it manual or automatic.  Depending on your model, your car has survived about 30 years of motoring and is part of history, so enjoy them.  I also believe you do have a rare torana Hux, anyway that's my two cents worth,

Regards Mick.

I agree fully with mick.

How many genuine slr 5000s do you see these days driving up and down your street?

Not bgucking many.

Even if you have the cash, you still have to wait for someone to sell theirs first. They are not for sale on every street corner. If thats not rare , I dont know what is.

If you own a genuine slr or ss in 8 or 6 config than in my opinion you own a classic 'AUSSIE' muscle car, doesnt matter if its an auto or a manual. Allot of those previously mentioned cars were not even released in australia. We had to forge our own definition of musle car. Thats what makes aussies unique, we have our own culture and fashion, and dont really give a toss what other countries are doing ( maybe except jonh howard :fool: )

just my two cents

cheers julian

Nice to see you adding 6's to the discussion Julian!!

Agree^^^ its getting a bit off topic, but......

I've always thought of XU1's as muscle cars, and pacers for that matter,
and by default many other Aussie 6's.

But would say an RX3 or RX4 be a muscle car?

Is it more an issue of era and performance? or just brute grunt?

Dunno.

Back to topic though, I love Yella's view point, and agree whole heartedly
that all our beloved's are special, some more than others, and the longer
we hold on to them the more special they will become.

Love your car HUX. IMHO matching numbers and original equipment and specs
make a care rare, and there for your's is special indeed! The colour just adds
a little more to the arguement. I gues famous previous owners also make one special.

Cheers, Leakey

I own a muscle car and love changing my gears when I drive it. Must admit tho, I have seen very few auto "muscle"5000's, so would think it to be fairly rare.

& here i was thinking the term 'muscle car" was used because you put your arm out the window doing "the bird" to the guy you just smoked in his riceburner, after he challenged our choice of weapon...

I learn every day,

every day , i tell you... :tease:

Spending three hours behind it on the road to Sydney, can tell you it sounds sweet as as well. Sweeter note seems to eminate out of the higher compression LX motors.
