There should be a button on the underside of the light switch unit, that you depress and this will allow the shaft of the headlight switch to slide out.
The choke......I think you just turn the fitting 90 deg from behind and it pops out.

Hi TravsUC.

As devil's said, the light switch knob is released by pressing the small button on the side of the switch itself, but make sure you pull the switch on, to the headlight position & then press the button.

The easy way with the choke is just to loosen the screw that retains the inner cable at the carby & pull the knob with the whole the inner cable, out of the dash & leave the outer in the dash. After all you only want the knob out of the way don't you.

Dr Terry.

Make sure your inner cable is straight at the choke end before you try to feed it back in otherwise frustration could be an issue. :furious:

^ you can get a little file and round the end down a little to help it through, and yes make sure it's strait.

Does it feel really springy? If so, the mechanism is loose and that's why it's not grabbing or anything. Try and get your fingers right up behind it (quite difficult) and and hold the whole mechanism in position if you can, then insert the triangular rod thing (is that what you mean? i'm speaking from an LH/LX point of view).

After you push the shaft of the light switch in...you pushed the release button up again.

There's a little notch in the end of the shaft, this should be pointing down(from memory) when you push it in......or perhaps there's only one way of putting it in .......which should automatically have this orientated correctly.......just a suggestions
