My LC is a 71 and has one lap belt in the centre and two shoulder belts.

My 1970 LC also didn't have any seat belts in the back at all.
Whilst I legally didn't have to, I got some installed.

Gooley!

It was either late 1970 or early 1971 when seat belts were included in the rear. My 4/71 XU1 has seat belts in the back !

So the reason is there ain't no holes cause they ain't suppose to be there !!!

G'day gooley

Rear seatbelts for the LC were an optional extra.
Photo from 1970 accessory brochure, diagrams from LC Shop Manual.

Woah woah ... sorry to steal this topic a bit ... but does that say a left hand mirror was an optional extra?

I have never heard of or seen a picture of an LC with a left hand mirror ... are these at all common? Anyone have one?

FYI seatbelts, in NSW anyway were compulsery in 1971 to my knowledge.

its hard to think that there are still old holdens, EH and the like still getting around with out them, only being after engineers and or rerego.

Good point ^, has it become law that all cars must be fitted with seatbelts that originally didnt have them in the front and the back?........or only has to be done if getting a new rwc?

I know the 1969 car I had didnt need to have them when I got a rwc in 1979, but that was a while ago............

My EH has had 2 rego inspections (blue last year, pink this year) and I don't have belts in the back..nor did they even ask the question.

You cant just drill a hole and bolt a belt in...its gotta be done properly

G'day LC2250

Concerning the left side mirror !! I've never seen one and it says it matches the right side.

I got the missus to hold my spare "right" mirror about where it should be mounted while I tried to see it from the driver's seat.

Try it and you will find you cannot fully see the whole mirror hence it virtually becomes an exterior ornament.

.....perhaps it was there for the "driver" in the passengers seat
