my LH had no choke at all when i bought it. I sourced a new cable but can't find where it should go thru the firewall. does anyone know and preferably have a pic of where it goes? Thanks

If it's a 5000 (or any V8), it shouldn't have a manual choke unless it's an L34.

Yes, you do learn something every day! I have fitted a choke to my SLR 5000 but I don't remember drilling a hole in the firewall for the cable.

so what goes in the hole in the dash where the choke knob should be?
antelopeslr5000 can you have a look where you routed your cable thru the firewall for me? Thanks.

Red is right, as they had an auto choke. If they get extractors though, the heat vacuum through the heat sensitive spring ceases to work, as the exhaust crossover becomes ineffective. I changed mine to an electrically heated spring, which is readily available from autoelecs. Fits straight in, and looks original. No doubt about it, 308's with no choke are cranky beasts.

Haven't looked back with the electronic choke, works a treat. Only ever adjusted it the day I put it in, and then it's set and forget.

There is just a blanking plug in that hole for a V8.

The original choke locks into a slot in the metal dash frame as opposed to the plastic lower panel. Im not sure how they achieve the slot as it is normally just a hole except for the 4 cylinder models and L34 etc. Use a Champion 3/4 blanking grommet to clean it up. You may have to use some contact adhesive to make sure it doesnt move.

Hi Rob.

Sorry I can't help you out at the moment as I'm living in the UK and about 16,000km away from my Torana!
