I have a 202 with a 4 speed (M20) and I am pretty sure my diff is a 3.36
cause it revs much the same as my old tori. Would I be better off running a 3.08 diff?
A couple of my mate have had them in the past and they seem to get good take off and good crusin rev ranges. My car currently revs out way too fast and revs too high just doing 90k/hr.

go the 3.08 if you want to do plenty of drving at 80+km/h.

just curious, what does your car sit on at 100km/h? what size wheels and tyre do you have on the back?

I don't have a tacho in the car yet, the rims are the old 13" stocks. Nothing special there. On 100 though the car is cruising fine. Still has shit loads of pull if I put my foot down, but the revs when your cruising on 100k, well it sounds like I need another gear.
3.08 is the go i reckon. just gotta find one.

with the 13 inch wheels I reckon you wont get better than a 3.08.
I have to go the other way, I am at 3.08 going to 3.55, I get 100km/h in first with a trimatic at the moment, so I need the lower gears....

Last time I went to a Wrecker (last week) wanted about 170 for a 3.08 ratio. With my celica 5spd it was heaps good for 80km+ cruising. I have a 3.36 in now and cant really tell much difference. 336 was 80dollars. I was in a panel van with 2.78 3spd manual, it was quite a smooth ride, once we got on the highway that thing had heaps of coast. On hills I was told it needed a bit of 'enthusiam' to get it going and build up speed. atm I think at 80km it sits around 2000 maybe bit higher in 5th.

thats odd JBird, normally the 3.36's pull more money than a 3.08, I not long ago sold a complete 3.08 banjo diff for $100, and it was in as good nick as you will ever see

depends on if they are fine spline or course ... i have a fine spline 3.08 in the torry and it was hard to get, cost alot more than the other ratios in fine spline ...

^or you could just get a 3.08 course spline and use fine spline side gears, makes them easier to find then.......

that depends if you break those gears or not :)

99% of the blown diff's i've had see those gears in pieces!
