I have a few questions for you.

:What grade oil do you guys use in an lsd diff?
:Any Idea how much oil a 9 inch diff takes?
:how to fill it if it has no plug on the back (is this done through an axle tube?)
:Also how to check level if it has no plug on the back?

Just got a feeling the guy who built it didnt put any oil in it.
took out an axle halfway to replace the competition studs it has and didnt notice any gear oil smell.
Just want to make sure she is ok before I actually drive it.
Before anyone asks the diff bloke says he doesnt know as he was on his honeymoon when it was built and the guy that assembled it has left.So he doesnt want to guarantee it has oil as he wasnt there etc.

Most places dont put oil in the diff when it is built, they leave that up to you.

I was told by the guy who built mine to use LSX85/140 with a small bottle of friction modifier. There should be a plug on the passenger side of the diff center, from memory it is a 3/8" square drive. I'm not sure how your supposed to check the level, you may just have to meter how much you put in.

Buy yourself a "tom thumb" pump... and keep on pumping till she trickles out the filler hole.

a 9" diff is full when you pump oil into the housing and it just trickles back out the filler hole.
Just make sure that its not just hitting the side of the gear and "splashing" back out.. and make sure that there's not an air bubble sorta forcing the oil out.
You'll know when its full!

I dont know how much it would take though! from MENORY it was around 1.5-2L?? i could be way off the mark though.
