HEY........
don't forget that Skaiffe wasn't stationary......he was moving, infact he was in 5th gear and prolly still doing 200+kph.
So that makes the closing speed closer to 50KPH or a whopping 18metres /second....
Yes the crest is blind but at that closing speed... sorry The lad drilled the vetran.......
To quote LARRY when Nathan Pretty hit the wall at Reid park a few years ago......
"young bloke cold tyres... F*CKED up"
Hows it feel to suck on that lolly LP.. bitter isn't it..... :finger:

Bottom left of screen right where it always is.. :tease:
Pretty sure most modern day teams use degrees Celcius these days old fella!!!! :spoton:
If it was 190 deg C then he had more problems than just a slipping clutch.

Cheers Greg..

Just watched this agan and the display on the Skaife car is not even in the shot at any stage at all. He was being passed like he was standing still and you could hear the car slowing, I seriously doubt he got close to 200. As for Jack, watch it again, he did say he was being pushed over, I naturally thought yeah whatever. If you watch it though, he gets pushed across by one car then he tries to get back across, but there is a car there and suddenly as he crests the rise, bang into Skaife. He will cop flak because he is a rookie and he is Larrys son and most will say thats the only reason he is out there. That may be the case, but there wasn't much he could do to miss Skaife. It's very easy to sit there and watch the race and think what was he doing, but try sitting in the seat. Anyone who has driven around bathurst will also tell you, the track is far more confining than it appears on TV. There were some far more experienced people out there making mistakes today, so give the guy a break.

Absolutley doesnt matter - for both of them and their co-drivers aswell.

I was annoyed when I saw it initially and couldn't work out how the hell he hit him or didnt see him untill I saw the footage from Jack's car much later during the race.
Sorta fell into place for me then and thought it was a very unfortunate race incident. Skaifey wasnt going all that fast due to his slipping clutch or whatever it was. My calcs about 80-100 kph difference between them in speed.

Very well said REDA9X.

Yea well said red. I thought he should have probably seen Skaife earlier as Skaife was going slow all the way up Mountain Straight but if he was being pushed well that fair enough that he didn't notice Skaife.

Yes I doubt Skaife would have been up to 100kmph it was slipping heaps bad.

All this wouldn't of happened if Skaife didn't stuff up in the first place.

Now was it driver error or was it a malfunction.

i.e Did he put it in gear to earlie and in doing so burnt out the clutch????

Wrecked it on his launch???

or It just "went"??? as i find that very surprising from is pace and reliablitly all weekend.

They seemed to hold a long time for the green at the start. I wonder if this had something to do with it.

I usually agree with most of Gregs posts but think you missed the mark on this one a bit buddie. Reds summary was a good one I think. Just one of those days on the Mountain that wasn't suposed to be.
