Don't tell me that unflared SLR with skinny wheels won a trophy. (lol).
Congratulations Matt, well done, you deserve it.

No one was more surprised than I that it won, I had bet on a well known around the Sydney area SBC blue LX hatch to win. Anyhow, thanks for the positive comments, I think it is a pretty neat car compared to others I seen there & I only ever doubted it's abilities to cut it in shows because it is a very plain standard looking car not in line with the usual award winners at shows like this. So I was just as surprised that it made the top 80 finalist list for the Summernats Street judging. SM did speak to me after, but I don't think it'll be a feature car. I don't need or particularly want to show it off to the world at large to be proud of it, I get plenty of enjoyment out of it just cruising the street, bashing it on the strip or just sitting in my shed admiring it for what it is. Very happy with how it's all come together, it does everything I want it to & a lot of the credit for this has to go to the generosity of quite a few people, some who are members of this forum, who were always willing to lend a hand or advice. Without it, this car wouldn't be where it is now. Thankyou.

Looks as tho you been having fun gauging the body twist.
Posted 17 October 2015 - 08:13 PM
lol. It has a 3/4 CRS bolt in chassis kit fitted, so shouldn't twist that much if at all.

You can't hide your arse from me hahaha.

And, the way that engine is mounted, or is that just to clear the booster???

It may only be sold because I've had an offer by word of mouth. Wasn't planning on selling, but the cash will speed up progress on my new project.
The buyer who's expressed interest in this car plans to keep it as is, maybe de-tune or replace the engine with something more drivable & street friendly, he claims it will not be flared. Pretty sure he will keep the old plates on it too.
I probably won't go as far with my next project as I did with this car, as long as it looks presentable I'll be happy. Over the show n shine pissing contest scene, my next project will be constructed along the lines of how I built them in my youth when they were a cheap fun car to play with.

I would have loved to see it returned to factory six cylinder spec, however as I've told the few people who expressed interest in the car as a roller, I don't want to pull it apart.
Sorry bud.
I have no interest in doing that myself either, I removed & fitted engines in that car far too many times in the past.
Plus I have no use for the drivetrain as I'm going a completely different direction with my next project & don't want the hassle of trying to sell the Holden V8 TH350 etc by themselves.
Then it isn't sold yet, nothing has been finalised & if the prospective buyer doesn't come through for whatever reason, the car can continue to sit in my shed.
Just coming to terms with the possibility of it leaving my possession by taking plenty of pics of it & thought what better place to share them than here.

My old offer to return it to original was declined apparently :-(
Posted 18 October 2015 - 04:00 PM
lol. To each their own I suppose. It is originally a L20 M40 GU7 SL/R & perhaps that has appeal to some??
Posted 18 October 2015 - 04:09 PM
Particularly considering I know where the original engine is sitting, and Know I can get my hands on it, so long as I have my hands on this car hehe.
No sweat mate, Did sell my Harley though, LIke I said I would to raise funds last time you mentioned selling it.....
Cheers.
