Thanks Gary for those kind words and maybe it was the era I went through that was taught respectability for others
Todays young society is heading down the wrong path with a lot of short tempered violence, drugs more prevalent and when they talk, their sentences start with "F", a few more "F's" sprinkled through that and ending in "oh F yeah"
Yes, I can swear like a trooper but usually around a "blokes gathering" and not out in open public, near children or ladies
AND as far as "how am I going?", I could complain but I am thankful I can get up every morning and still be able to do what I like doing best, LIVING
Hope to be at Toranafest next year, hope to see you there and also meet up with the Torana friends I have made there and of course making new friends

Baz, there's a saying that says, you have 2 eyes to see, 2 ears to listen & only 1 mouth
Had a bloke say to me today, looking for parts for my burnt orange "ss" hatch ! I said "oh" you mean papaya ? He was like yeah mate it's burnt orange ! Papaya is paw paw, like the colour of a ripe one ! Clearly he either didn't give a toss or i was speaking another language ?
What if his car was repainted burnt orange? It was a very popular colour a few years back.

Bec is definitely a lovely lady, like many others I've had multiple opportunities to chat with her at toranafest over the years and he always seems to remember the car and our previous convos
And I've gotta agree, she has definitely aged well- still a good sort for her age.

I watched it last night and it was rubbish. It's one saving grace was the not seen before footage of the race. It was actually a blessing in disguise that channel 7 wouldn't give them the rights to it. I think the actors did a great job of playing their respective parts, (although Larry should have been swearing lots more ) but the producers turned this "dramatisation" into little more than a soap.
One of the reasons channel 7 gave for not releasing the rights was that they were planning on making a documentary sometime in the future. Here's hoping they do a better job.
I finished watching it all tonight, and whilst I wouldn't say it was rubbish but closer to very average. At best it was a work of fiction based upon facts. I'm glad though that they showed the dark side of Peter as well as the good. Racing wise it could have been so much more rather than show us most of the historical stuff we already know or know of. It was very disappointing not to see anything about his Monaro drive in 2003 at Bathurst and 1969 was totally wrong in so many ways yet arguably it was one of the pivotal points in his fame and racing career, this was the start of Brock's straining at Harry's leash. The other bit I really wanted to see was 1973 but nothing about the dramatic finish to the race was shown.

I know mothing about Peter Brock other than what the media has portraid .... And I like the media portrail of Peter Brock..
But.. If Brock was a bumbling fool, who relied on everybody else for his success .... I kinda find it hard to believe.. Just look at that first car he built with his brother and his dad.. and the A30.. As I said, I have never met brock. but that portrayal just does not fit the persona of someone as successful and skilful as Peter Brock.. What he did with who ever matters not to me...........

I'm with you Byron. The 69 race was a total work of fiction.
For example, at the the media release before the Bathurst race, where they introduced the cars & the drivers. There were only 2 cars & 4 drivers. WTF, where was the 3rd car with Peter Macrow & Henk Woelders ?
I believe it was a mini-series made for the masses, not for the car nut.

Yep, that was part of it. In fact Woelders and Macrow were supposed to be the gun team, they got the car with the most powerful engine and racing rubber. Bond/Roberts was the no.3 car. One of the biggest load of BS about 1969 was Brock racing Moffat at the end, Brock wasn't even in the car, Des West was. Harry yanked him out for not driving as instructed.

It doesn't make sense, he had the skill to win races and from interviews I've seen, he was never bumbling. As for business success, Dick Smith said something very similar, that he (Dick Smith) wasn't that savvy but surrounded himself with intelligent people. I think being able to sift the advice and choosing to go with the good instead of the bad is a talent in itself.
Edit: Of course every decision wasn't a winner.

It was the 60's-70's man!
Everything was groovy! Even the colors of the cars.
I hear that the first 'prototype' polariser was a bunch of crystals that Peter had in a cloth bag inside his race suit in 1979. Just a rumour though.

No mention of a V8 LJ tho so I guess that throws all that nonsense out the window then

The whole V8 LJ thing is obviously just a myth
I thought the racing sequences in the show were done pretty well
