ok, Hey I have a 6 inch rim with 31/2 back space, if I put a 8 inch rim on with 51/2 back space wheel will sit in same position. 21/2 after back space. Why would I need to shortern diff?
Hi LC 2door V8,
After thinking about your Idea as a normal rim is 4 inch offset, does the tyres on the 3 1/2 inch back space rim touch the inner edge of the rear guard when cornering?
If not, that will give you an extra 1/2 inch on the diff side of the wheel which in effect will act like a 6 inch offset from my measurements.
The only problem will be the 255 tyres, they will be wider than the 8 inch rim which will hit the rear inner edge of a standard guard using the 5 1/2 inch back space rims.
255 tyres are 255mm wide and an 8 inch rim is 200mm so there will be at-least 30mm of rubber hanging off the sides of the rims. Dave I
p.s. it will be interesting to know how you go
