Basicaly the day starts with scruntineering and a drivers brief at 9am (it maybe 10am i just can't remember which it is ) After that the track is opened.
Cars need to be roadworthy, with no loose objects inside, and steering and braking systems and brake lights need to be in good working order. Also cars need to be free of leaks (or degreased in my case ) and have an overflow bottle Drivers need to have full covering neck to wrist and ankles, and covered shoes and a proper helemet. Flame resistant clothing is recommended.
The sessions run in 30 minute blocks. The first is for drivers only (no passengers) the second session is for Drivers and passengers only (no drivers without passengers). They swap between these two for the whole day. The only exception is a Driver and junior passenger session around 1pm, where drivers can take their older children for a lap out in there cars behind the pace car.
Generaly they let up to 40 cars on the track at a time (full circuit) letting them on from the pits. As cars come off, others are allowed on. They do not class cars, or match them based on performance, so it means there is a real mix of different speed cars on the track, but everyone is told to be aware who is around them and give others room. Those who are faster and need to pass people are told to do it ONLY ON STRAIGHTS.
Basicaly the ruling on how fast you go is:
You are only allowed to drive to 80% of the car and the drivers potentional, it is NOT racing as such, simply doing laps.
If you driver harder than this (drifting, tyres squealing around corners etc) you will be given a warning, and if you do this again you will be kicked out.

I am trying to finalise a few things, looking at sticking the old tyres on some other rims so i don't destroy the new ones i drive on every day. Things are gonna be tight for me financialy so i am not prepared to commit to this at this stage.

"...Tonight and Sunday
Rain at times tending to a few showers tomorrow. Cloudy with light to moderate
easterly wind tending south to southeasterly..."
Directly from the BoM website.
I just test fitted my rims, and everything is Aok. Planning to try and fiddle with the Konis tomorrow as well.
I might be looking for some pit crew Heath...
I rang Tim before, but just got his wife again, he is out trying to get stuff sorted for tomorrow, so if you can't get onto him send me SMS later tonite. I will be at your doorstep at 6am if Tim falls through

The day was a blast! Its the first fun day that has been run in the wet and to say the lest i was hesitant in taking my car out. I waited a few sessions to see what it was like as i was expecting carnage. I was suprised that apart from people 'beaching' there cars in the sand traps braking too late, and a few spins early on there was no damage.
So I ventured out.
Maybe it was the wicked suspension setup i have (King Springs, Koni Adjustable shocks, Whiteline front Swaybar), or maybe it was the under powered stock 173, but i had to delibrately try to get the car to slide in the corners. Felt quite stable under brakes and powering out of corners. Suprising this was on my old Sumitomos that i stuck on some other rims so i didn't reck my new tyres. I had a great time.
Sadly the day was not without incident.
Coming down the Pit straight (V8 Supercar pit straight) a Monaro CV8 lost control and hit the wall quite hard. i would say the car is a write off, the driver and passenger appeared to be ok, but we were not told anything. Obviously the session was closed and the circuit cleared.
Closest near miss I observed was a EA/B Falcon getting crossed up in a pack of cars coming through the 'S' bend between the two pit straights and spining in the middle of the pack of cars, somehow no one colided, but i think a few people would be changing their shorts after that one.
I will have some pics up soon.
