Sorry no pictures of the CV8 when it crashed... maybe Heath has some.

On the way up that Capri blew past as around Swanpool... it was quite a quick car.

I was thinking too wet as well Dave... I didn't get on the track till around 11:30 or 12 or something... i wanted to see how the others were driving before i got my car check and payed for the day. However by early arvo a dry line was appearing quite clearly, and it was a lot gripper than i expected.

Dammit I didn't come up because of the rain, I thought it wasn't on in the wet. :furious:
On the positive side I got heaps of work done, completing the shed so I can finally start on the LX, hopefully next weekend.

Sorry no pictures of the CV8 when it crashed... maybe Heath has some.

Rolled past it about three metres away, would have been an ideal time to grab a shot but I didn't want to put Tim position as a driver in jeapordy by pulling the handheld camera from my pocket.

Must say, a lot of people were holding video cameras despite the driver breifing.

Had an absolute blast! It was great to meet a few forum members and put faces to names. They reckon thats the first wet one they've had, I hope its that wet next July! :spoton: The highlight of the day had to of been my mates FORD Mustang doing 2 laps and ending up back on the trailer popping and farting back through the carbys. Serves him right for buying a FORD considering he's a Holden man. Might have to throw the LJ together for the next one and drag it up on a trailer  worry about rego later.
Again, what a blast and thanks to Steve for all the pre-event info.

But after much talk and playin round and a quick drive we had it sorted! Im so happy with the car! Finally well get some more camber in her and the front sway bar welded up n hopefully itll turn as good as it goes!

Update on the Mustang.
Spoke to my mate Russell about the Mustang today. It had blown the head gasket between 2 and 3 on the r/h bank. The engine builder told him it is because as the points close up on the twin point dizzy it retards the timing and runs hot internally. This happened at the last meeting it ran at Phillip Island. Cams have just changed the rules to allow electronic ignition so he is having another dizzy built. Should be running again Saturday.

Man I am a lazy bastard. If you are on dial-up, close this thread.

Got around to it in the end anyway.

I think I might have got the bug. Here is the new project. VC sle euro with 4W discs, fe2 suspension and LSD. No motor or G/Box. I have 3.3 black, 2.8 blue, 173 Red and 3 x alloy rover 3.5 V8 to choose from but only 1 B/W 5 speed. I have 4 x 14 x 7 globes for it. Imput welcome. This would be a trailer job for fundays.

Looks like it could be fun. I would strip all the interior out (whats not needed anyways) and probably go with the Rover V8. But the 202 would probably be alright.

Low budget here. I spoke to an engine builder mate that reckons more performance from a 3.3 black than 3.5 Rover. (Bits are more redily available and cheaper) Apparently the Rover flat lines at about 4500 because of the cam and porting although I've had the Rangie out to 6500? (It has a 350 Holley) My argument is a 3.5 alloy V8 might stop better and sound better in this configuration. Its all about noise isn't it? Even if you don't go fast.
Have all the SLE trim to sell and wheels with RWC tyres.

For the same basic engine design, instead of the Rover 3.5 litre why not the Leyland 4.4 litre all alloy V8 they were based off the Rover/Buick engine anyway and you shy away from more cubes. Of course I understand that you already have the Rovers.

A top level executive decision was made today at RODOMO racing. The first year the car will run the modded 3.3 and T5. In that year a 3.5 rover will be developed for year 2. Forecasting the future a lighter body (maybe Gemini coupe?) will be developed for coming years.

I'm thinking warpaint saying SLE 4400 or SLE 3300 (same style as LX L31) down the bottom of the doors.. what do you reckon? :D

No war paint initially, that costs money. Just a tidy up on the white. I have a set of 14" globes for it and have lined up 4 x 205/55/14's for them. It has 15" on it now and by putting 14" and low profiles it will bring down the rolling circumference and also effectively lower the car. As it was 308 and turbo 400 its more than likely going to have a pretty tall diff. (I don't have it here yet so not sure of diff) The globes are of HQ ( I know, I know, not the right PCD but the ones I have are tapered nut so a set of hub rings and she'll be right) (just make sure the nuts are tight) which will give instantly 1" or more of track front and rear. I can't wait to get it home. It's 40ks past Echuca at the moment and the poor old Rangie needs a new heart before I can tow with it. (Blown head gasket, running on 7, and pissing out oil everywhere including out the exhaust) I sent a spare engine for the Rangie to my engine builder this week and should get it back next week. It will be .030" up with flat top pistons, EFI cam, and ported heads so this is the current project. I hope to have the Commy thrown together before the next Winton fun day.

A sad day at the RODOMO house, I watched him win his first Bathurst and all subsequent. I was only thinking this week after watching Sandown how good it would be to see Brock and Richo one last time in an enduro. I am glad that my son had a chance to meet the "King" a couple of years ago at Sandown with Team Brock.

Long live the "King"!

Go the malboro scheme... should look good... get a hammer out and 'flare' your guards yourself and run some fat fat fat rubber (265's should cut it)...

Sounds like fun!!
