my HJ MONARO COUPE

as some know earlier this year i ran out and bought a monaro coupe shell which is actually originally a hx LE
i also then luckily came across a stato which was too cheap to let go pass which came with a running 308/turbo400 and various nuts and bolts for the munro
recently i finally got onto some doors which are pretty rusty but hey nothings impossible at my joint.. also snapped up some good glass with it
so the bare shell i basically started with is not so bare as now all i need is a few chrome moulds and 2 front window regulators
its going to be a bit of a project and im already cant wait for the school holidays so i can get heavily stuck into this body work (gotta weld in a heap of sections , rust repairs , getting some spots looking smooth) also gonna try and get this lc sprayed up in its devil yellow
at the moment the colour for this monaro is going to be c5 corvette red unless i find a brighter and better red
heres some pics of it so far
this was the car a few years before .. before the previous owner gutted it and sold it all off seperately
how it came home
tomorrow theres a all american do on so after that i should be getting the centerlines delivered for this and also probably finish bolting up the front end and get some better photos

I think the LC should be a priority though
What comes first on the Monaro? Get it on the road then slowly swap some more stuff with LE gear as you progressively can afford it? Or paint it all up how it is?

ive also found a colour theres a really nice red hj sedan getting around town think its commodore sting red or one of the newer reds.
also put the stato boot on her but not totally sure on which way il go for the boot yet it doesnt worry me
heres some photos of the repairs il be attacking this summer
at the moment im not interested in turning it back to an LE as they dont do anything for me but however i would like to know what number it was out of the 550
also for the progress so far i owe big time to some mates up the road who have hq coupes fellas if you blokes werent helping me shed still be a bare shell!

im 50/50 with the boot either way i like both lines hehe so atm im not fussed i reckon the statos boot though for that different look:P
leaky that is MAD!! hopefully mine will turn out that good!!! im geussing a genuine hj gts coupe? if you dont mind me asking what is that colour??
p.s. also for those who dont know the reason why ive gone the hj-hz style front end is because i want the car to be different ive seen quiet a few hq coupes around bendigo / melbourne and its getting rare these days for a hj to pull up especailly with those boots
there is an le getting fixed up at the local kmart tyre joint and my friend knows of a genuine complete LE for sale for 6 grand has a bit of rust in doors but is complete sadly however shes missing the tags and cant really be used for anything....

It drives as nice as it looks too!
Love the Statesman boot lid, that's gonna look brilliant - and different!
Speaking of different, I saw a pic somewhere of a Munro with a WB ute front.
I think that's the right model? actually, here's the pic. Something I like about it.

From memory my mate has a poster of a purple HQ Munro with a vynil roof and all the factory fittings etc (it's an official holden picture from back then) hehe it looks great. Now that's the kind of grandpa mobile I'd want

Lostit, they don't even need tubs... you can still fit a fairly wide tyre unde the rear.

But I do love all the HJ-HZ on the 4-door Monaro GTSs, with the spoiler underneath etc, really sets em off

Defying the expectations of many that column shifters cannot be performance-based is enough work for my photoshopping skills... at least for a little while
