Radially mounted so easy to make a bracket
Plus $220 for some tasty pads

One thing with Brembos is that rebuild kits are not available. Full stop. If a seal leaks the only option is to buy a replacement caliper.

Hard to believe maybe. Would like to be proved wrong and it may only be an issue for motorbikes.

Go to any Ducati forum and ask the question - or try a Porsche forum. It is very hard to get seals to rebuild a caliper - you can buy a replacement but struggle to get parts - bleed nipples are easy to get though. Whether it is a way of increasing the cost of spares or reducing the liability risk (being sued - ala USA) no-one has really said but that is the most likely theory.

just wondering, how much would it cost to get some brembo 4 spots working on a LX/LH/UC and also how they compare to other options out there.

we really should do a comaprison of different combos calipers rotors etc, also costs envolved etc

basically just having a list of whats possible, what works, and how they compare with eachother. im sure im not the only one that wants to know these things. would make for a good sticky and hopefully clear things up a bit for us all.

cheers
john

I want a good set of brake on my LC. I have been think of just going to Hoppers and shelling out the cash. But i think it's to much money for a set a shitty 2spots, i guess. A have a mate who makes anything, has a plasma cutter, so brackets are one worrys. All i want is a set of 4spots on the front of my lc. Want it to stop. But have no idea where to start. What stubs, disc, and calipers can i use, and will get them to fit together. Only If i knew what could be made to fit what, but i don't.

^ im in the exact same predicament as you, trying to get best bang for the buck for my UC and somehow the hoppers kit seems dear and underwhelming if anything.....

4 pots of decent quality will set you back between 2500-300 for the front

There are so many different calipers, wallet sizes , wheel sizes and offsets to have a database
Eveyone thinks they can get some cheap calipers off "something" and make them fit

There are established kits........ buy them if you liek them........ don't if you don't

Set a budget, wheel size , expectations you expect from the car and I'll throw some suggestions around.

I will be offering many kits for many cars when the doors open hopefully in January if the deals all go thru
If you need something before then I'll put you onto someone over your neck of the woods who might be able to help
They don't have any Torana kits yet though and would need to be developed (they do HQ kits though if you have HQ stubs)

As a guide (approximate)
2 pot kit $1200
4 pot kit $3000
6 pot kit $4000
15" wheels for 2 pot
17" wheels for 4 and 6 pot

I went to Ap's web site and there are shit loads of different calipers and mountings spots, too many. Dattoman, do you know what 4spots could be used with a set of lc drum stubs with commodore discs? I'm going to put 17's or 18's on the lc, 18's if it don't look like a tonka truck. I will send a cheque for a set of Ap 4spots if they can fitted.

Nothing will bolt straight up
Most AP's are radially mounted and a bracket needs to be fabricated
Assuming 17" wheels as a minimum and for street use I'll suggest this
1. Go buy some disc stubs...... drum stubs will be a time consuming PITA
2. DBA019 disc (undrilled and redrill to required pattern if different to Commodore) 330mm x 28mm
3. CP5200 AP 4 pot caliper ($730 each)
4. Custom make bracket to suit (I haven't got around to this yet..... thats what Chopper is waiting for me to make)
5. Custom braided hoses
6. FRP216H brake pads (Ferodo DS2500 - $230)

The its just a matter of making it fit

Enjoy

Just out of curiosity, does the six pot caliper also use the DBA 019, or do they need 342 MM front discs ( DBA 5055 ) and a VT hub conversion?

The CP5570 6 pot is suitable for the 019's
It even bolts to the same bracket as the 5200
For a 32mm thick disc ala 5055 then you'd need a CP5555

Though...... in the very near future I will have access to some other AP's with proper dust boots that are more suitable to street use
They are very similar to the AP's on HSV's and may even be slightly cheaper
Still suit the 019's though

If all goes well the business will open its doors in January
Then some development time to design the bracket
Then some time to have it made

Soon
