we are currently using 1000cc Rochestor injectors because Chris already had a set of those from his last TT Lexus setup.  We were thinking about changing to 1600cc Bosch Motorsport injectors (because I work for Bosch  :<_<:  ), but the Rochestor ones are good for something like 1600hp anyway and they are pretty good quality.

how do these injectors go for methanol ... i've heard that normal injectors can't be used with methanol due to it killing the seals ?

i was looking at efi methanol injection for a project but turned away from the idea when i heard all this!

You are correct, methanol can eat away at aluminium and some rubber seals. You need to be careful with what components you use.

We have actually decided not to use methanol now. We will just set it up for pump fuel, and also C16. The reason for this was not because the aggressive nature of methanol, but instead we just wanted a simpler fuel system that we can easily use with pump fuel as well.

As for your question, I know that the Bosch injectors (or 'Indy Blue') can handle methanol pretty well. Most other injectors would probably be ok for a little while too.

Go the exhaust manifolds sandblasted. :-) They come up good. They are all ready... unless we decide to run wastegates, then we have to weld more bits, but hopefully we can just run a blow of valve set up like Nizpro.

Yep, we plan on assembling the whole lot including intercooler and all piping on the engine stand. More pictures will be coming soon.

Our water-to-air intercooler has also been sandblasted - looks a bit like its cast. Its an interesting effect. Keeping it clean will be a challenge. We're assembling more of the motor on a stand now. Should be able to start it up on this stand, once its all together. Its getting there...

More pictures below... enjoy! Only one turbo shown here, as its being used on Chris' RB30 Pintara at the moment.

Sweet!

Have you thought about painting the intercooler matt black like the rocker covers? Wouldn't stand out as much behind the grill if it was black.

Might be a stupid question but would that affect the cooling ability having it painted in a heat absorbing colour?

Thanks for all your comments guys!

We are currently considering options for the exhaust system.

Option 1: twin 3-inch merging into a single 4 inch near the transmission, with one 4 inch muffler.
Option 2: twin 3-inch all the way (with balance pipe), and two 3 inch mufflers.

I reckon a dual system can have a deeper sound. A single system can sound like its revving higher and can sound pretty tough. What are your thoughts?

Turbos change the whole note of a v8. My mate in Traralgon with his 355 with a single turbo only had one straight through muffler and it was quiet. Sounded stock almost. But when you opened it up it sounded a bit better, but not crazy.

Which is why you need a flat plane crank :tease:

Not sure what you mean by that Bart...?

We're starting to set up coils for the motor. Decided to use 8x Nissan GT-R coils because they are compact and good. We'll sit the coils directly above the spark plugs. So far Chris designed and produced this aluminium bracket:

Amazing stuff! Makes me want to learn autocad (I used to play around with it).

PS I think Bart was having a friendly dig at 308s.

No i wasnt having a dig, i meant the flat plane crank will change the sound/note of your motor ie, LX406 mentioned a V8 with turbos makes the sound quieter, muffles the V8 sound, with a flat plane crank the sound generally makes a V8 more of a screaming sound, like a European/Ferrari V8.

Might be a stupid question but are the plates the coils are attached to alloy? The small sections screwed into the larger bracket I am talking about.

Do they seperate from the coil itself and can they be polished up?

Having those polished and sitting under the coils would look good in contrast to the black of the coil and the black of the bracket I reckon.

Might be able to polish them up. But we'll be putting a heat shield cover over them anyway, to protect them from rediculous heat coming off the turbos.
