I have been to a number of places and have been told that nobody makes clips to attach new belt rubbers to a LC XU1.

Rare spares makes the rubbers but it seems that nobody makes the clips!

Is this true ???

hi torry nut,
r u talking about the out side door belt, because 2 days ago i bought the inside and out door belts from a rubber shop for a 2 door LJ and he said that they don't make them with the clips any more, he told us we needed to glue the outside belt on. but the inside one came with clips
im sure u could find spares at ur local wreckers and attatch them some how.

hope it helps

Matt

NOPE!..They all break when you try to get them off....this was the LONGEST pain in the arse doing the car!..I made a U shaped puller...looked around until I found a clip that would work and spent 4 days doing the 2 front doors...Only worse job is door pins! Good luck Luke!

This thread is close to my heart atm. Have been struggling with the inner window sill window seal(is that the belt?) there are clips missing and it appears the only way to try and reinstall the belt to push the clips on is to pull the glass out of the door. Looked at my other UC wreck to see how it was attached and it had small tiny clips, whereas the other used a clip that was much wider and slotted through a 1.5 cm gap in the door.
If anyone wants to compile a "How to do it section on these" there will be at least one reader!

I bought a heap of trim clips at an auction..but i don't know what you are wanting..I might have what you are after.

So a pic or a detailed drawing would help.

Yup, they are a pain in the ass, and I have never been able to remove them without breaking them. I bought some three years ago, but there was some problem with the clips (too wide for the holes). Still need to get some, but haven't gone back and revisited that yet.

LH you have some advantage in that the outer connects into the chrome strip, so it can be removed from the car for fitting.

I know the door belts in the Commondore are glued in, as I've had to reglue 3 of the 4 doors so far.

One of the things I forgot to try buy at the Nats. Get that with old age.

The LH ones look heaps easier than the LC ones..They appear to just pop back in the holes..I hope.

Oh, LC ones. Don't know sorry.

If it's of any consequence and you have to resort to glue, I use Quik Grip on the Commodore, same stuff your kitchen laminate is put on with. Applies to both surfaces, let cure for 15 minutes, then push the two surfaces together.

Any luck finding these clips? I broke a couple tonight taking the damn door belts off. Might rip them all out and refit with new clips if you can get them from anywhere. Looks like a simple crimp install through the door belt.

Door belts are still in good condition, so would be a waste getting whole new door belts.

I'd be inclined to try one of the sikaflex products

with glue technologies going leaps and bounds im sure they would have a product to replace those clips\.

they use these types of glue to joint car panel to avoid heat etc, saves time and money for the manufacturer so it must be good

something similar that will do the job just the same or better or

possibly get made if it doesnt cost an arm/leg

i probably would be looking at around 1000 clips.. we will see what this fellow says

i explained there is a rather large torana comunity needing these special clips :D
