Yeah I get what you said but I was just looking at the major basics on components..
Also need a clause Scrutineers decision is final, no corespondence will be entered into..
Pretty hard to get away with too much if the original specs from early 70s are used with a few tweaks like wheels eared sumps etc for reliability.
The Biante thing as Peter has told us..is just a rich kids game now. We need the grass roots to come back..Sheet! In my day watching they used to drive the bloody things to the meetings for christ sake!

Suspension pick up's maybe, there's only so many banjo diff's around. We are converting a Borg Warner to Torana suspension pickups and get the bigger axles.diff housing as per original
......
brakes as per manufacturers spec must use factory calipers for that model car.
.....
Torrie brakes are crap, better going ventilated disks front, and disk rears. Damn drum brakes bite on hard.

What tyre profile... 60? or 50? I think 8x15 on fords ok..15x7 is a bit small, its a big car!! I run 15x8 on my thing and I have trouble getting grip..
XD Falcon started in 79 by the way...

With the disc rotors would aftermarket replacements such as plain DBAs be acceptable?
What about HQ brakes on LHs same as L34s, or A9X rear end or T10s in LHs or L34 heads and distributors on LXs?
What about a panhard rod on an LH like the Wynns car with its arse in the air after it ran off the road, it passed scrutineering.
Or Harrys semi-dry sump arrangement.
Theres plenty of mods done to race cars that were allowed at the time but not available on road cars.

Yella..Ya just stuffed the class! The brakes is what I was on about first!.There are a few mods that would need to be specifically allowed or banned for each particular car, specialists would need to consult on this as one person wouldnt now everything about Holdens when they know more about Fords.

Come on!! You cant find a banjo diff housing?? Then you want to modify the pickups? There is a class for that already..Go to Imprpoved Production.Sheet! there is 10 diff housings on Ebay alone!!.
HQ brakes are OK on LH No slotted /drilled discs..DBA replacement OK.(Its only a disc)
LH mods go on LH..LX parts go on LX..LX is in ND.
15 x8 is OK by me for the Fords.
Pan hards are out..Not factory fitted.
2 extra litre winged sump fixs Harrys mod.
Cars to run are Australian Production cars made from 1969 to 1979.. No short production things allowed. General run of mill GMH,Chrysler,Ford. Models to be listed but generally the ones that ran in that period.
Current tyre size is 50 aspect ratio I think for Fords.

ExactlyYou might want to list all the cars that are allowed to enter.. ie Falcon XA,XB,XC sedan/Coupe,Torana LH, LX, UC (6) Sedan/hatch, etc.. no sports cars like say Datsun 240Z, Ferrari, porsch ??

XD Falcon started in 79 by the way...
And a set of rules to govern each individual car
No UC's and no XD's
Cutoff is 12/1977
Who ever heard of a UC racecar ?

XD for the fords and LX for the Toranas
HX for the big holdens
Imagine trying to pass an angry CM/L Valiant sedan in the twisties
Any VB commy ? or do we ban struts ?
So its a series for all aussie cars... not just the body styles that raced before .. sedans can play where they didn't play before

Commodore Cup is nothing like the rules you are talking about. Neither are the Commodores that run in Saloons, V8 Supercars or any other series.
If I want to build a replica of Brocks Bathurst winning 1982 Commodore, you're saying I can't, yet an XD is ok because they won't dominate the class ?????

Maybe that where you need to start before we get too far advanced with the nitty gritty of the eligibility/ vehicle specifications.
If you were to try and get a category oof the ground that was up to 78 for some cars and 1980 for others it wouldnt get past the first base with any of the rules comittees.
If you wanted to make it a series prod class fine but are you talking of only limiting it to Holden and Ford. Remember that there were a lot of other brands of cars that ran in the period as production cars.
Datto240zs, Porsches and Lotus of any type wouldn't be eligible as they weren't touring cars but sports cars.
What about Mazda RX7? Touring car yes raced in the period yes should be eligible
or is this a ford V holden category only?
