I was contacted by a guy in Qld who wanted to know if I wanted a set of the flares same as on the Sports Sedan HDT car when he heard I was doing my car......He has the moulds evidently.

Hi guys, 1st post. Only found out about this forum this-morning....... :spoton:

That photo appears to be of the LH Repco V8 'Beast MkIII' Sports Sedan, which is currently being restored and hopefully will be at this years AMCM.

Also Bob Jane had 2 'light-weight' A9X's made for Sports Sedan racing, but bought and raced the Monza instead. One of the bodies was used for 'Pete' Geoghegan in '77-'78 for Bathurst and ATCC. They were so light it only required 2 people to carry the shell around.

Yes, it's in the latest AMC, but his two hatches started life as normal hatches, not A9X's. The second car still survives as a rolling shell today.

If I hadn't been offline since September, I may have replied to this a bit earlier.

Anyway...

Have you ever tried to lift a bare stock shell? My bare UC 4 door shell is so light I can easily lift the front of it 4 feet off the ground with one hand. Mind you, I am a former power lifter...

Yes, but this car was so light the quarters flexed in the corners to the point you could see from the sidelines..... Mike Prowse and Bob Janes manager (the name escapes me) were not large guys.

I don't suppose you have figures of the weight difference?

no sorry, I don't, but every panel and piece of glass was thin and many pieces were missing, including half the seat springs.
