They never do, do they? This is how it came into my hands:

Oct 7, 2003:

11.25 AM: Swampy advertises his car in Swap Meet.
11.48 AM: Oldn64 confirms his availability for towing.
12.12 PM: Car sold!
10.30 PM: Car parked in my carport.

As I had bought an EFI VK for $200 in August 2003, the simple plan was to slot the EFI donk into the UC and register it. Very simple, very straight forward.

Famous last words...

UCWEPN also advertised his UC here and that also is now in my driveway. This is the one that will be registered, subject to a good report from the RWC tester. The ex-Swampy UC is currently being stripped down to a bare shell in my 4 car garage. This is whilst running a business, raising two kids on my own and trying to get the other UC registered. Should I also mention I'm looking for a third work van? Maybe not. There has been no progress of late, mainly because somebody went through a stop sign on March 18, 2005. I still haven't fully recovered from the injuries, but I am better. So in the mean time, I'm doing another clean out in the garage. Time and weather permitting, photos will be available for viewing online this weekend. Not of me, the cars.

you need to cut door and roof off, if going racing with red motor in a UC, lots of weight for the old 202. Chopper, do you have 2 hatches or two 4doors UC's

4 of the 8 doors are off at the moment. Roof isn't going anywhere.

Hahaha i agree, get as much weight as u can off it! i think on the old forum there was a guide on how to get your mums car down to 12 Seconds! they pretty much hacked absolutely everything out of it! so really all that was left was motor and something that may resemble a floor for the driver to sit on, ill try and find a link, it was a great read! Maybe some ideas for hte UC's chop.... after all they are only UC's!

Winning Bathurst doesn't make it a better car... :P

I second Peter UC's comment I'd have a UC over an LH/LX any day of the week. Better dash, better handbrake, better suspension and better value. :D

I read that and I think it was a load of bullshit. The other thing is it still needs to be ANDRA legal.

UC's make a magic doner car for an LX, Yes they were better in ways of suspension and handbrake bla bla but they look dog ugly with them big UUUUUUUGGGGLLLLLYYYYY tail lights..You cant compare a UC to an LX in looks, no way no chance..

As to this thread Id say go for it Chopper, A UC would make an excellent drag car if lightend up and fitted with some decent HP. Is it gona be a N/A 202 or are you gona use some Forced Induction..A toyota blower wouldnt be too hard to setup and cheap at the same time, with the EFI it shouldnt be too big a drama to plum up and all you would need to do is remap the ECU for the extra boost. Good luck with it ..

Just My opinion tho

John

I'm really excited about this Drag car actually. I don't know anything about it but I think UC's have great potential for performance, especially down the quarter mile. It will be the first hot UC that I've actually talked to the owner of.

I have a complete and running VK EFI 3.3 in the garage with the computer etc. At this point in time, that's the engine going in. I learnt a long time ago that my UC will go a lot harder with this motor in rather than no motor in. The 15x10 alloys* are also in the garage. I'll probably put a pair of these tyres on them. Anyway, I'm still in the strip down stage. I spied a new engine crane for under $250 today, so I might go there on the weekend and grab one.

* Looking for a matching pair for the front. Minimum 13" diameter, maximum 6" wide.

i have a full set of 14x7 mags like the ones you have. I picked them up today on a Gpack in bendigo. the Gpack has some rust in the boot floor otherwise its ok, if i restore the car ill be running the 13" rims with hubcaps like original.

Make me an offer as i dont wana seperate them. I think the tyres are cactus so just the rims.

I agree with Aidan, I have looked up my references and the fastest lap for an A9X at Bathurst was 2:21.1 in 1979 (Brock) The next year was the first year for Commodore and though my reference isn't specific it relates to a time of "low 22's" for Commodore (again Brock) You can only wonder what a UC in A9X race trim + would have done with its extra aerodynamic front? It was a GM decision not to V8 the UC rather to flog the "new" commodore.

An A9X was basicly a UC with LX looks so a UC i doubt woulda done any better then a A9X.. I doubt the front woulda given it any advantage. If the commodore didnt get a quicker time then the A9X why would a UC, a commodore has far more superior aerodynamics then a UC torana and it didnt do it much good.

LX forever....

What do you plan to do with it engine wise?

Are you going to stick with the 202? What times do you plan to run?

Those ET streets are absolutely awesome btw good choice! I was running 1.6s 60' footers all day long on them on my AU falcon.
