lol relax heathy boy..lol

were not flaming chopper or at least im not.. he said theres 200hp in his 202 when his finished so it might run the numbers he wants.

but like lakeside said fast needs money or at least if you go cheap, big motor in little car..

Chopper are you using the UC for any specific reason or is it cos you already have it, you say it might cost you a few hundred bucks to fix the rust. I can get you a TA torana in good nic doesnt run for a few hundred if your interested. In a TA your times will be heaps easier to acheive.

why pick on poor CHOP?, poor cgnts got no ears. lol

You lot gotta realise that its a challenge in itself to get an old car (approx 30yrs) and make it go a lot faster than it was designed for and without using any special technology (forced induction etc), in this case he wants to use a 202 in a UC sedan and he's aiming at 14's and will probably get 15's. Let the guy dream a little. You always have to aim for more than what your gonna get, its called ambition. I'm aiming at mid to late 12's with a mild 308 LX Sedan, but I know I may not go past a flat 13 without using some expensive technology like a supercharger or a stroked bottom end, which is beyond the budget.

Now, I know this because the L34 did 12.8 seconds on the quarter and as for the 6 cylinder performers in LC's, LJ's, XU1's and LX's, well I have only read about them doing best of 15's

i just had a think..

yes sub14s is HSV teritory but a HSV is a fully loaded streeter with more luxury then the queens palace...

...If you consider after market engine managment your $$$ will go up and up.

John

Stop reading my mind, that's very rude.

going to need more than 0.8 sheet metal. Maybe that's why you need paint stripper, bare metal dragcar. It should save another 20 kilos. Why not a HB and cut the firewall to fit a six. It would to to be under the 1000kg with the motor. Chopper, there is a saying. Can't go fast with no money, unless you steal it. Are you using the UC because you got it for stuff all. Because if that's the case, I will gave you a $100 toward a 4dr lc/lj shell. Wasteing your time, it's too heavy. If you had lots of money and wanted to prove a point, fair enough. You need more than an ugly UC and efi202 to go where you want to go. If 8litre, puts a towbar on the big block and tows you and the car down the 1/4, with the efi202 in the boot, then a think it will happen.

So where is your time slip? If people ( not just you ) keep annoying me, they go on my banned list.

Hey CHOP, when's it gonna be ready?

Dunno, I wasn't counting on all the rust. This will slow me down a bit. Then I have to make heads or tails of the VK loom. I'll put up a pic of that on the weekend too.

As for those asking " Why a UC? "

If you don't criticise my choice of car, I won't criticise your choice of wife.

Good on ya chopper!

I'm starting to get my engine together for my UC, and aiming to put down a 13 outta a 202, so i believe you'll be able to do it no sweat! Be interesting to see more progress of your car as it comes along. Keep up the good work.

Baz.

I've just finished giving it a dusting and a vacuum. Otherwise it all turns to shit when I scrub down the inside of the shell. I've got the paint stripper for the rusty areas, just need to find something to remove the sound deadener/body sealer stuff. Not to mention removing some obselete brackets spot welded all over the place. You can guarentee if I don't, I'll wind up catching my jeans on them and ripping them to shreds.

I don't have a wife either. It's been so peacefull without her for the last 11 years.

That's the way Chopper! Stick up for those of us with 202's in UC's. We'll be right, we don't need their opinions slowing down our 1/4's. :)

Hopefully, my UC will be in a state to take you on in march. Good luck with it all sounds like your moving quickly.

Go for it Chopper.
If we wait until we have the money to race the car we want. we may never get on the track,
Just race what you've got and have fun, thats what its all about.
A UC with an efi 202 and a locked 3.9 diff is a good starting point and will embarrass a few V8's.

don't crack get sads. If you don't like people giving new some new ideas how to go a bit faster for less money, take your bat and ball and go home if you don't like it. Who's hang shit Chopper, I can start. And if you need something ask. I have lots of bits. I want to see this UC at the track, should be a good day. How many little pony do you think you had to run sub14. dose that mean 13's or 14's.

3.9s behind a 202?:tease: Maybe for the 1/8 mile.. I'd like to see it break 90kph in top gear.

Good on ya tho chop, u gotta use what u got. Pissing off all the stone guard and deadening is a good place to start. I'd be trying to get some 'glass bumpers and bonnet and boot lid. Just use bonnet pins all round if its a dedicated drag car.

well personally i reckon its quite achivable to use the stock VK ECU to get 200hp out of a 202, sure you might need to have a aftermarket fuel pressure reg and beefed up injectors but thats nothing .... i had VR V6 commodore injectors in my VK EFI at one stage as i was too lazy to get the stock injectors serviced .... they definately flow more!!!

My blue 202 was making about 170hp at the flywheel using totally stock VK EFI other than an aftermarket fuel pump and that was due to not getting one with the bits i got from the wreckers .... its easy to adjust the air flow meter to suit your motor.

have a look at Sammy's VK EFI Conversion Article this is a fairly comprevensive write up on how to do a VK EFI conversion into an old holden ... it has wiring information aswell and if you need help i'd be happy to reply to your emails!

i've done VK EFI conversions into 5 different cars and most had modified motors which required tuning ... all use stock VK EFI components.

Go hard with it!!!

Exactly. I want to see how hard it can run with what I already have in the garage.

With the proposed 275/50R15 rear tyres, it should hit 173 KPH @ 5500 RPM. The glass panels will come eventually, but the money needs to show up first.

Top stuff Chopper! (500 posts, w00t) That photo reminds me of that awesome red RB30 UC Project that hasn't been updated in like a year (will get pics to refresh memory if requested) but obviously not the same budget :P

Is the paint good on the panels or will you be giving it a respray?

If somebody can successfully demonstrate to me that a new paint job will make it go faster over the 1/4 mile, it will be painted. With a cut and polish, the current paint should come up looking reasonable.

That's all you need on a drag car mate, I wish more Toranas were like that...
