Does anyone have any pics of torana hatches with vinyl roof?

I didn't know they made any but I just read something about it in another thread.

I've never seen one or any evidence of one. I have a damn lot of photos and no Hatches have vinyl roofs so i'm guessing they were all removed neatly back in the 80's or something...

it was common in the late 70's to fit a vinyl roof after hail damage.

I can't imagine a vynil roof on a hatch looking even slightly good though...

I don't even know exactly what it would look like. I guess pretty similar to the sedan ones, I expect those must have been factory.

My hatch has a vinyl roof....it was brown but I sprayed it black with vht spray to match the interior. didn't turn out too bad!

I think my hatch started life as an SL so who knows

will try and post some good quality pics up soon.

The LX Production Option Chart doesn't differentiate between sedan or hatchback but does offer two exterior soft trim roof covering options.

Although the torana's arent as popular with the vinyl roofs, like the monaros, I have seen a few GTR's, the odd XU1, an L34 and a few SL/R 5000's with vinyl roofs.

Havent seen a hatchback or an A9X with a vinyl roof, an LX hatchback Id believe would of been optional, A9X I dunno but anytings possible.

I've seen a UC with one, IF and A9X had one, it would have been done by the dealer. I've seen an L34 with one, yuck!!! Orange with black roof

I've seen a Satin Mist (I think that's the silver) LH Torana SL with a white roof. It was a metal roof too...

Never heard of that being a factory option. Did it have some sort of divider between the two colours? trim, insignia, anything like that?

If anybodys still interested i seen a local hatch years ago that was purple/mid brown/burgandy? color and had a V pattern in Chamois starting with the point about 1/3 on roof with full cover by about half way extending down the C pillar.
Looked kinda cool in an old mans statsman kinda way. Was SL from memory ( talken 8-10 years here). One of those cars you get the feeling they had it from new. Sadly ive lost sight of it these days. I will ask aruond and see if it is still on the road.
Area is Mt Prichard - Hill Top NSW.

Here are 2 of the 3 the photos I have of the car. Third photo is just a blurred dash pic and if you can imagine a woodgrain SL dash with clock and 160 K speedo you'll have an idea of what it looked like. I've scanned them again and they are still bad - even from the negative. I think the worst part was that it was the end of a roll and I was just using up the film. Pretty much new rust free when I traded it in 83.

Wheels were 13" with plastic trims - the bad photo almost makes the look nearly OK.

Fitting new standard height peddars shocks and springs at the time - was a mistake as it raised the car to 4WDheight.

Nope - zero. I've been through the box of photos a couple of times now and that's it.

I do have one of my old Kingswood. And by one I mean 1. Now that was some car - 3 speed on the column, 202 and handled like a whale. Lovely colour too - sort of a pale green white a white(ish) top.

Didn't take a lot on my early cars even though I had an SLR camera and all that. Do have a few of the motorbikes I've had over the years. But even with them I think I only have a few of the first 2 or so. Later on I got a bit more snap happy.
