No guesses here people!! Just real proven figures!!
Now I know that different factors can greatly influence the figures obtained from each engine so keeping this in mind lets just have some fun and see who has got figures to back up all the "torque"!! :spoton:
Constructive comments appreciated!!

As in the drag times thread, pictures of Dyno Slips to back up your claims!!

I will start the ball rolling!!

Name: PJ
Model: 1977 LX SS Hatchback
Engine type: 350 Small Block Chev (5.9L)
Engine Mods: Too many to list!!
Manual or Auto: Manual
Diff Ratio: 2.7 ?? (Not real sure!! Its a 9-inch and its tall)
Power Output: 176.8rwkw @ 4660rpm
Torque: 434.2nm @ 2800rpm
Dyno Location: Torque Automotive
Date: 10/07/05
Runs were done in third as fourth was too tall and would have gone past the speed limits of the Dyno.

seeing though i don't have a dyno slip yet...i'll estimate 550,000,000hp at 140,000rpm from the 173.

wait a couple of weeks and i should have an actual dyno slip saying waht i actualy make....

This was done at our Dyno Day a couple of years back now. The guy didn't have Shoot-out Mode there at the time, so hopefully it will be better this year, around 200ish RWHP (due to our elevation up here straight out readings are lower). The lower graph is the previous year's dyno before I started tinkering with it.

Torque: 269 lbft (364 Nm)
Dyno Location: Autotech Services, Canberra in 38 degree heat!!!
Date: March 2003?

Is anybody going to convert the figures to kW and Nm so we can compare? - Edit: Added em.

Going on the L34:-

Straight run:- 173 RWHP
Shoot-out mode: 248 RWHP

By straight linear interpolation, expecting 215 RWHP this year in shoot out mode (levels out factors like humidity and elevation above SL).

Its kW, not KW or kw
Its Nm, not nm or NM
Its lbft, not lb/ft
Well done Yella.
Its hp......well Im not sure about this one, but Id go small case!

Damn engineering units I did at Uni, lecturer was a stickler for correct annotation, and since the whole class used my pracs as the master copy, if I got it wrong, the whole class got it wrong.

Since we r on about correctness, when refering to hp,is it hp or bhp? What is the real differences between them?

*Snipped*

Mate thats exactly what your being. Picky.

Please. Everyone know's what were talking about, and we all know that we dont use the correct grammar, spelling, and annotations. But we all understand what's meant.

No one is perfect, and were all here to help each other out, enjoy each other's cars and have a chat about what we enjoy.

PLEASE BACK OFF about correcting everyone on every thing.

As ive asked once before, Unless its something blatantly dangerous, please consider the way in which you type things and the way they will be taken by the other members. If its not of assistance to the thread then please keep your opinions to yourself.

To EVERYONE:

This thread was opened to discuss our car's power outputs as shown by Dyno graphs. Everyone is well aware that no two dynos are the same, and know the differences between the figures of an engine dyno and chassis dyno.

Please EVERYONE, keep it civil especially in this thread, its not about having the most grunt, or mines-bigger-than-yours, its about appreciating other's hard work, and hopefully and possibly helping them with their combination.

Now play nice kiddies!

Sorry if anyone has taken offence^(Ls1 and Tiny, but perhaps youll be the better for it) Im sure their are a lot of forum members who just dont know the difference-because its never been pointed out to them, rather than making simple typos, but its such a simple thing to get right....why not do it right

If you want to claim you car has 415nm(nanometres) of torque etc for the rest of time and look........thats up to you.

I suppose someone will want to expose me for using "their" instead of "there", that's a typo.

That would be yourself, you seem tio be correcting people and you juist corrected your own mistake. Guess it just comes natural too you, anyway who cares, post up your Horse Power chart?

All I can say is I am f#@*ing sorry I bothered even trying to have a sensible thread about something relevant to the forums.

I am a member of a number of different forums and we have similar threads on all of them. Most of them are simply people putting up posts the same as my first post and we can then compare the differences between different vehicles and mods etc.

It is generally accepted that if you are talking about Engine Dyno figures that as long as there is an "n" and a "m" after the number then people recognise it as Newtonmeters.

I have a background in engineering and can see your point but really, get over it. Its a freakin forum.

I would ask the mods to please delete all nonrelevent posts in this thread. I dont mind chit chat and questions regarding the figures quoted etc but dont go telling people how they must write their own posts.

As mentioned above, post up your chart!!
We arent here to bag people if they have only got small numbers from their car. Its all about the fun doing it!!
We recently held a private Drag Day here in Tassie and some of the people who had the most fun were the ones with the bog stock NA VL Commodores running 16sec runs. These same cars were put on the Dyno a few months back and got small numbers.

Its all about the fun!! Thats what I was trying to get at. Mine hasnt got big horsepower and I am fine with that as I drive the damn thing everyday!
Other people cant get enough out of their cars!!

Well, if a little thing like k instead of K can send some of you off the deep end, whose going to put their toe in the water here.... Believe me, people who know the difference, will appreciate it when you get it right.

My charts, sorry, Im not in the power race.

Happy for the mod, to delete all my posts here for forum peace.

Anyway

Model: 70' LC

engine: 308 red, cam aimed at low down power (still dont know how/what that works/means exactly), holley 600, stock heads (that I know of), 40' thou (recent rebuild) aftermarket electronic fuel pump, high volume oil pump. So barely mild...

diff - 3.08 lsd banjo

gearbox - celica 5spd (putting in now)

Going to get a dyno done as soon as the box is in and setup right.

Any predictions of what the power figure will be?

This was running PULP with a really clogged air filter, but i didn't know that at the time.

I would love to stick it on the dyno now with the 2" instead of 2 1/4" and running straight gas.

My 406 on the engine dyno, about an hour old after running in.

400 chev + .030
flat top cast pistons, x rods, cast crank. 10.8:1 comp
462 fuellie heads, big valves, ported.
Crow cam solid, smallest grind in catalouge.
TRE roller rockers
Victor Jnr, 700dp
ICE ignition
pacemaker extractors 4 into 1
Mobil Synergy 8000 fuel

It goes pretty good, 11.51 @117 in HG Prem, 10.86 @125 in LX Hatch (LX406)

I got 410 at the wheels on our last Dyno Day with the Canberra Torana Club, but had a lot of tyre slip with the Mickey Thompsoms (shit tyres need to go) but this year with a tune and sticky rubber hoping for 450 at the treads. The engine has made 687 on 100 octaine on engine dyno so hope I will get close to that number, I loose a lot with 4000 stall convertor.
