I have taken another look at the Adelaide cars for Aug and Sept and I agree with your figure of 241. There were a few 10th month cars "hidden" amongst the others. This leads me to the question; how do cars produced in the following month turn up in with a PSN amid earlier cars?
I created a spreadsheet and it turns out that most of the 10th month cars had engine numbers from a sequence that accords with earlier cars. Is it possible that the 10th month cars are simply typos or input errors and that they are in fact 9th month?

I have ruled out the 8 cars FINISHED in July 1972 as being part of the Bathurst run as these 8 cars have May, June vins.
Yes, FINISHED sounds better than BUILT (Jamie)
It appears the Adelaide built cars start at :
L210096
and finish at :
L216000 (With 8 of these cars being FINISHED in October)
Giving me a total of 249 for Adelaide built cars. 250 for Brisbane built cars.
Thus having a grand total of 499. Giving me the impression we have missed 1 in Adelaide some where !
Something I find strange is the amount of Adelaide built cars that have August vins but were finished in September Though !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
L211
L212
L213
Adelaide August range from L210 to L213
Adelaide September range from L211 to L216
Any theories on this ???
Ill start hunting for the missing 1
Cheers, B.

Nope - I didn't have that one either (they tried to trick us by entering the Options Code for a GTR). I wonder if the data entry girl ever considered that someone may pick up her errors 35 years down the track?

I have examined the Brisbane XU-1s from 1 Aug and end Sept '72.
I have established a figure of 250 but have included H248465 12/9/72 (GTR codes) with engine P219807.

G/Day BazzaHi
I have examined the Brisbane XU-1s from 1 Aug and end Sept '72.
I have established a figure of 250 but have included H248465 12/9/72 (GTR codes) with engine P219807.
Bazza
I to came up with 250 but instead of using H248465 i added H250907 which was finished on 6-10-1972. The reason being H248465 (GTR ?) has the same engine number (JP219807) as H248468 and also H248465 has the 3.08 diff ratio.

The production date is when the car was finished not started !

Hi Guys. The ADR plate should never be considered exact, many have incorrect date stamps and not only the Torana's. My XU1 is 39 on the line but 41 of it with a production date of 1/2/1972 but my ADR plate says Jan 72.
Mars
The official definition of the ADR date, for an Australian built car, is when the "engine is co-joined with the chassis or frame".
The production date (AFAIK) is the day the car is driven from the line.
So your car still fits. The engine probably when into the car on the 31/1/72 & then driven off the production line the next day (1/2/72).

The last 2 photos ^^^^^^^^^^^^ are of Bondy & Brocky at the FIRST ROUND of the 1972 MANUFACTURERS CHAMPIONSHIP held at Adelaide International on Sunday 27-8-1972. Bondy went on to win round 1. Moffat went on to win the championship in his PHASE 3. I think we all know what happened in ROUND 3 on Sunday 1-10-1972 though dont we ! >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Not that im aware of ? We only have the vin disk (Fishe) to go off !Are production sheets available ?
It appears that maybe 200 were built in August, 300 in September ! 500 in total.
My Theory
200 August (Sprintmasters)
300 September (XH Cam,200) (3.55 diff ratio,100) Same as Bathurst 71 cars.
