Mod's are "easily" reversible if he was/if going to sell it. Which he probably won't.

QT would be the prefix for blocks of that period, found in monaros.

AFAIK the XU-1's..the engine's had stronger internals and a modded up head. Nothing fancy to do with the block.

Hope that helped
James

I've got no problems with someone searching for an engine with a number that says that it's from a certain month of a certain year... It just seems a bit excessive for a replica...

Isn't a replica supposed to be relatively indistinguishable from the original?

What about when you're building a replica of a car that didn't really exist?

Last I heard, GTRXU1 wanted to do this as a 2006 version of the XU-2, or Series 2 XU-1 or whatever you want to call it.

Prototype that didnt reach production, created undeniable, still original.

The prototype/s, LC & LJ GTR/XU-1s, designated production LJ GTR/XU-1 coupe.

Duplicate: identical to the original, Replicate: close or identical to original.

If you own genuine examples of LC, LJ GTRs and XU-1s, Brabham HB and considering a final project: XU-2/ XU-1 series II.

Interpretation (in conjunction with above justification/s): Duplicate=GTR Body, Replica=2 door S

Body: GTR, duplicate body

Driveline: 308 in fleshbored to capacity of/choice

Body interpretation: AMC Issue 9 pages 66-70, Leo Pruneau, no closer

Wheels: custom sprint masters 7.5 front/ 9 rear.

I believe that constitutes as close to an original duplicate (identical) to prototype than replica interpreted to todays standards.

Alright. I'm only a dickhead 16 year old with an LJ S, but I just think that looking for an engine to match a car that didn't make it past the prototype stage...

Fair enough tracking down the original JP for your XU-1, but an LJ or LC with a V8 will never be anything more than a replica.

As for building it with a GTR, why bother when you could sell the GTR, buy an 'S' 2 door and come out with exactly the same result (except you'll have a 6 instead of a 9 on a plate), and have more money to spend on it...

In the past V/8 LC LJ "s didn"t fetch big dollars .But that seems to be changing now , if is a genuine GTR or GTR-XU1 with an eight they can achieve a lot better prices now.all this talk about V/8"s is giving me a fever ! and interupting my sleep patterns.

It makes sense to me. The plus is another V8 LC/LJ out there. I don't care if you were planning on doing it to an XU-1, which would make it even more like the original ones produced. A V8 back to 6 cyl conversion can be done in a day, there is no mod needed to fit a V8 that can't be undone.
