Did the LH or LX come with inertia reel seat belts for the front seats?

my 74 slr has inertia front belts, I'm second owner and they were as purchased.
my 75 sl also has them.

Thanks mike. Could any1 tell me whether these seat belts are genuine or not, and possibly what they are off? I am pretty sure the rears are genuine but I'm not sure about the front.

You can't re-raise my 4 beans with 2 jaffas because that would have to mean I would be answering my own question and that's just ridiculous!! :furious:

....

just wtf are we talking about here again? Oh yeh seatbelts. Any ideas any1?

The reason I ask is coz the webbing in all of my seatbelts are stuffed and I need to make a decision whether to get them sent out rewebbed (if indeed they are original) or, if they're not original, just buy new ones

I spent around $200 on a pair of new front inertial reel seatbelts and a centre lap seat belt. Put the new ones in and keep the old ones for eBay next decade.

I was hoping someone would say that, its definitely the easiest and cheapest method. I'll buy some at repco today.

Repco and another shop has told me LH torana's originally did not come with front inertia reel seatbelts.

The later LH Torana's had inertia real. Two types. The most common was the Cool Drive one's. You appear to have the Rainsford type. Best replacememt i have found is the Klippan K1513. They have an orange release button which wasnt like the LH ones. I prefer them. Just keep the old ones as Chop says. You can replace the webbing but wont make the mechanism like new. Unless your mechanism is perfect vote for safety. Cheapest place was Autobahn. You need to make the mounting hole slightly larger to allow the fitting to move freely. Comes with fitting instructions.

Thanks for clearing that up toranavista. Its been an absolute ******* nightmare dealing with these seatbelts. I bought 2 front Klippan K1513 90/90 Stalk 400 inertia seatbealts today from Repco and 2 rear Klippan K2257 Lap Sashes. The kit comes with metric bolts so you have to provide your own imperial bolts, which wasn't a problem in my case.

BUT using standard torana imperial bolts means, as you said, you will have to drill larger holes in the inertia reel housing, plus the ancors for the front pillars - which was a very big problem (it's most likely highly illegal due to the variations in strength the metal suffers when it is heated and cooled) I'm not fully sure of this, I could ask either my brother or dad who are engineers. On top of that, due to the angle/gradient/slope on the floor, the locking mechanism on the K1513 is misaligned therefore is constantly in lock position and unable to be moved. I'm not sure what K1513's you have but mine locks once it is secured to the floor, plus, the release buttons on mine are red not orange. Which is alarming because the guy I bought them off told me they used to be orange aswell, so maybe they have changed them. Anyway I guess the only thing I can do is ring the Klippan hotline on monday and figure out just what the f*ck is going on.

I nearly lost it this arvo after all the other shit had happened. My vein on my forehead was pulsating furiously and if it wasn't for James Boag, well... I just don't know where I would be

The Klippans have metric bolts? I haven't opened mine yet, so I'll look out for that.

Yes, they are not just a "bolt in".
I had to drill to fit them in Boy's hatch. About 1/16" bigger from memory and use the original bolts to suit the car.

Very interesting reading about the seat belts. I'd rather stick to the non-retractables mainly for originality and ease of fitting. I have stuffed around with inertia retractable belts in the past in my old HK ute and it is a pain. Does anyone know where I can get a pair of front lap sash belts webbed in the Melb area and a rough cost. They are Chestnut (tan) colour. 4/74 LH L32 SL/R Thanks
