hahaha nice , although the amount of lowering can vary, depending on profile of tyres i believe :)

Never had a drama with Lovells,

Ray runs them in his XU-1 and I ran a set in my torry for a while too.

I need some new springs in the next couple months and will be going back to lovells, or custom wound to suit the height I want.

Has anyone here used Pedders springs? I've got the 1.5 inch lowered ones in my torry, and the front ones seem to move around a bit and make a bad clunk/bang noise when turning from full lock back strait again. Is this cause the wire in the spring is thicker than standard one and doesnt sit in the lower control arm groove?? (i cant find any past threads but do remember reading something somewhere a fair time ago)

I am probably going to go anothe 1/2-1 inch lower again(2-2.5 in total) and would like to know if I should get a different brand spring to get set at that height or if theres a way to make the pedders one seat in better. I also have the original front ones so I could always get them reset 2.5 inches lower than standard.

Anyone have any ideas on whats best???

I don't have the Pedders springs, but I just changed front springs in my car a few weeks ago and have a kinda 'groan' noise where my coil wire on the driver's side only rubs against part of the lower control arm, like when I creep into a servo etc it makes lots of noise, towards the front of it.

I kinda pushed it across hard with a pinch bar and the noise went away for a drive or three, but it returned and I just chucked a bit of sheet rubber between the two parts to temporarily shut them up. Don't know what I'm going to do in the long run.

Is that where yours touches?

Yep thats it..just seems to move around a little but with the weight of the car it sounds aweful from inside the car. Its not as bad outside, but either way its still a noise that I would like gone. Mine is fine 90% of the time, but only when in parking lots when returning from full lock it makes it (prob the only time anyone is near the car too)

I just called up Pedders, and they have recommended some plastic coil wrap. I think this similar to the stuff also used to wrap hydraulic hoses on various pieces of machinery. Not sure how long this stuff would last though, but it is pretty tough plastic.

Interesting, rodomo mentioned a product something along the lines of that being used for a manufacturer's recall

Rubber will be fine, many vehicles (including Toranas in the rear) have rubber spring insulators (and of course bushes which take similar loads). As long as the spring is still safely seated that should be a perfectly good long term solution

Cool, I might try some rubber as my car doesnt do too many k's it should last a few years at least.
Its been a while since I put the springs in mine, but I don't remember having a rubber insulator for the rear springs? Something I will be checking. Are they needed? or just optional?

Not a recall, a warranty fix if the owner complained.

On the top only, I'm having trouble remembering now you've asked but I think it is needed to stop the spring from moving around

I just bought some camira springs for the rear of my lh,
problem is they wont fit over where the spring is supposed to sit.
So like the circle at either end of the spring is too small to fit over.
Anyone else used pedders?
