Dude on ebay is claiming his rare UC Hatch is one of 1600 built. Apparently this hatch was driven in by Brock (he didnt specify Peter) and that the car was used in the UC promo ads.

I know there were over 8000 LX hatches but only 1600 UC's? Seems a bit low.

You scoff..but they will have to.

LX hatches with 202 pull about $8000
UC's about $3000 to $4000

I reckon I could convert the sheet metal for $500 and the dash about the same

The front of that purple hatch looks real good Matt.
Please don't post any pics of the rear, it will spoil it for me. Bloody ugly tail lights those things have.

Is it my eyesight or is one indicator orange and one white ?

This won't be too much help, but for all the Torana's I have seen about on the road(which obviously isn't many) I have never seen a UC hatch, only the 4 door's and sunbirds.

This is why I am a proud owner of a 1 owner original UC Hatch :P
The front headlights are the only let down on the UC in my opinion, but they can sure still look hell tough

Chriskoss, I agree you dont see too many UC hatches on the road, hell, I dont see too many Torana's at all these days but there does seem to be a few pop on ebay and the trading post. I'm just wondering if there were more than 1600 built though. It seems like an awfully low number and I object to ebay listings that are full of shit.

In my opinion I reckon the headlights are one of the better features of the UC, tail lights not so, but hey, I have learned to like them.

Cheers,

T

T

I drive about 150k's a day with my job in metro Melb.
I did a little "survey" in my brayn a couple of weeks ago "how many Torana's do I see driving daily?"
I gave up about midday having seen none.
Having said that, I can tell you where about a dozen are parked.
I maybe service a Torana once every 6 months.

LX hatches with 202 pull about $8000

I wouldn't sell mine for less than 15k.

At least at that price i will probably never find a buyer.

Thank god

Pretty sure this one has been for sale before, reserve not met.

New pics this time. Either that or there's an exact clone, down to the wheels.

I think if you have one of these beuties then hang on to it, especially if its a SLE with an orginal disk brake rear, and if your lucky enough to have one engineered with a V8, even better.
I am also curious to know how many were made,
But this forum is all about appreciating the hard work that we put into our cars, no matter what model the torana may be.

I think rear discs were an option on SL/E, not standard?

Yes you are correct rodomo, I didn't mean to say they were standard, just if you have an SLE with the option, thats just one better.

It's a pity (In a way) the UC never got raced, and Brock never won bathurst in one. If that had happened I reckon they would be a lot more popular today. Then again, if that was the case UC hatches would be like gold as well - at least there is a possibility of still finding relatively cheap ones atm....even if it is fairly remote!

UC was actually a far better car than the LH/LX in my opinion - just not as much heritage...and ugly taillights!

Can you tell by the tags if your uc is a SL/E or not?

When i bought mine it had cloth trim, wiper dwell control, rear discs, factory air, chrome trimming and both side mirrors are SL/R type. It also had the sports dash.

I can't remember what badges it had on it.
