a badge on the glove box lid that has B.S.S. COBRA engraved in it.

That's pretty cool in itself, I think dealer modded cars with tags, etc. are a good selling point.

B.S.S = Bib Stillwell ?

No wonder that was passed in! Who'd pay $84k for such an ugly POS, especially with a 302 chaff cutter, when you can buy a HG GTS350 manual or an L34 or even 4 door A9X for simlar cash!

if the big ford coupes float your goat then it is reasibly priced
as even a xb coupe with no pedgree goes for over 50k these days

I love XA GT coupes, but unless it is an RPO83 there is no way any of them are worth over $80k. Plus it is a 302 to boot. No different to asking $80k for a mint HX LE - you'd get laughed at! I guess a mint XC Cobra "Bathurst" example would be worth it though.

The plot thickens.... The "Allan Moffat Special"

Who knows what the story is here, most likely a falcon500 optioned with a 302

why would you get laughed at?
it is a low millage example of a rare classlic car
and it's not like you can run down to your local fraurd dealer and order one any more?
rpo's are over 100k last i looked
normal xa gt sedans go for 60-70
the ford boys comand and get much more for thier cars than the holden's of the same era

Been a while since you peeled the paint from a hatch, has it?

I'd own an XB coupe in a heartbeat....... Just can't afford one
If I had a coupe parked next to my hatch, will russell ingall turn up to my place and abuse me?

Probably not, but I would! Get an XA and i'd congratulate you though (secretly i'd rather an XA GT coupe than any LX hatch short of an A9X). XB's and XC's should all be crushed!

Interesting read about the Cobra, the only knowledge I have on the subject is I know for a fact that the pace car at Bathurst in 1977 was a 2 door Cobra one of the 30 race specials and was fitted with a siren and rotating flashing light on a bar across the roof.

these extras are still fitted to the car and it appears at the odd show and more recently at the Bathurst museum. I know the car I know the owners (very nice couple) and its history and I have been for a ride in it around Eastern Creek

and for the history geeks

It did one lap, a display / parade lap leading all the race cars around the track then was parked as during the race back then they didn't have pace safety cars stopping the racing

^^^ no such thing as quick tyre changes either. It was usually done on the side of the track with a wheel brace. Old school, yeah!
